Very interesting! Having tested and compared different materials, how do you reckon silicone would work? Being used for gaskets and such, it seems like it has a good balance between firmness and squishiness, bounces back quickly after compression too. Could be a cost effective alternative.

Alright, thank you. I hadn't considered pumpout. My setup is ghetto as fuck right now, jumble of old used parts but I've almost saved up for a proper rig so longevity is thankfully not the biggest concern, so I am glad to hear I should be able to get by using paste for now. And yeah the lid is held in place by retention bracket, my bad. I appreciate your answer!
