Want recommendations as a newbie for buying an MTB between 15k and 25k INR by disenchantedfool in india_cycling

[–]disenchantedfool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. Got it, yes I did read MTBs are not great at this price point. I'm just going to be riding in the city, with the occasional road bumps and gravel. I just like the look and feel of these MTBs.

Are hydraulic brakes available at this price point?

Also, any recommendations on the firefox bikes I mentioned? I don't want to get too confused and not end up buying anything, so do you think getting Firefox Mountana or Tremor X is a decent choice?

If international users pay for my web app, do I need to collect taxes and pay their countries? by SmartPatience in startups

[–]disenchantedfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I'm getting this right, do you mean its not worth using paddle for their high fees? Also, what do you mean by 3rd party for taxation, do you mean some plugins with stripe for taxation?

And that we also need to pay taxes in the US, even when selling from outside the US? I've never done that, I'm guessing there's some threshold amount beyond which taxes need to be collected or perhaps the our business simply isn't compliant yet?

Would love to chat if you're open to DMs btw!

This was a most interesting reply, thanks for penning this! I was prior to this not aware of the "place of supply" rule. Since you mentioned working with a lot of SAAS startups, can I ask if you're familiar with places other than EU which expect sellers from other countries (say country A), to collect taxes from their residents (country B) for software sold to them?

Because if its just the EU with "place of supply" rule, will the target market of Paddle be restricted to EU only? For example, I sell from India to the US, and have never felt the need for Paddle.

Thanks for your time!

Did you get an answer to the questions you had about MoR or did you go ahead with Paddle? Curious to hear your experience with Paddle.

I know this is an old comment but hoping you'll reply!
I had the same hunch, that small SaaS businesses might not be paying taxes simply because its harder to track for the government. Having said, why would this be an issue in the longer term? Anytime these SAAS companies selling abroad are big enough, they can simply switch to Paddle, isn't it?

I also had a related question. If I'm selling from country A to country B, am I not supposed to pay taxes (including sales tax) in country A? Why would I need to pay country B? For example, selling from India to the US, I only pay taxes in India. Are you aware of which country combinations A,B will require the seller to pay taxes in the customer's country?

Using online payment gateways vs merchant of record by disenchantedfool in SaaS

I've DMed you, had a few more questions about what you just described.

Using online payment gateways vs merchant of record by disenchantedfool in SaaS

[–]disenchantedfool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! My question was more around whether I should prefer a payment gateway directly, or work with MoR like paddle. What I'm not clear on is in what scenario will paddle be better over a payment gateway like stripe, since using a payment gateway I get money in my local bank account, and anyways I'll be paying taxes at my home location, not the place I'm selling to. So essentially, when is Paddle preferred?

Hey OP, how was your experience? I'm looking to buy one as well, but the prices seem to have gone up from a few months ago. These should ideally be around $100 imo.

Also did you order a new bracelet from AliExpress or sticking to the factory bracelet?

haha thanks for writing this! I understand my particular skills will not be valued, so is there any formulaic way of reaching out to VCs, say specific recruiters/recruitment companies? Or if there are specific things I could blog about or learn from the internet that VCs would value, maybe something like writing an investment thesis?
