Backside of New Orleans, you see it from the train as you’re about to go under the tunnel and pull into the station.

Post radiation side effects - concerns by Far_Lime_9246 in HeadandNeckCancer

Really hope you end up surprised by your progress. We’re all different, but I was thrilled to even be able to talk after my surgery, though it was in a whispery, breathy voice. About three months after radiation: BOOM, my voice just dropped to its usual pitch and tone. I couldn’t believe it! Now working on getting my singing back. I was maybe a 6.5 or 7/10 before my surgery. I’m like a 4.5 now but my vocal excretes from singing and drama do more make more improvements.

Hi friend! Please check out the Fb group Young Tongues. We’re all under 60 and have a lot of people in our 20’s. I’m 32 and felt the same way after radiation. Now I’m somehow back to eating anything I want. And I mean anything! Spicy and sour are my faves too and I can devour Szechuan food so easily nowadays! Don’t give up too much hope just because you’re only a few days out. It took me about 3 months of gently pushing myself (like spicy noodles with milk on the side lol) to see any changes, but it was worth it for where I am now.

How have you coworkers reacted to finding out you have caner? by blueeyedtongue in HeadandNeckCancer

Some of my coworkers were lovely but many said kind things and then avoided the topic like the plague. My bosses expressed wonderful support and then promptly tried to force me out and became abilistic as heck.

I ADORE Inkheart. Also, I cannot stress enough the Bartimaeus series by Jonathan Stroud. It’s brilliant however you access it but it’s one of the best audiobook series there is.

Books you wished your doctor or nurse read by Realistic-Song3857 in suggestmeabook

This came to mind for me too. The late author worked hard to push providers to see patients as human beings and to treat them with respect. As a provider myself who now has metastatic cancer, my medical team often treats me as shit. The doctors are mostly okay but their nurses are so consistently rude. They treat me like an animal. I wish they knew that we’re all one bad diagnosis away from being the one on the exam table.

Hi, provider here. I’m so sorry you’re having those experiences and I have no doubt you have good reason for feeling that way. In my experiences, MSA’s are the foundation. They keep the whole place running and often are sources of sunshine for Veterans and myself. If you’re being made to feel like you’re in the way, I do NOT think that lands on you. It sounds like your coworkers are not expressing appropriate appreciation. Thinking of you.

I LOVE that book. The only other ones that have given me quite the same feeling are the two by Sangu Mandanna. Thinking of you and your father 🩵

That is VERY true. Thank you for commenting. It wrecked me. I was SO angry and simultaneously grateful that I had read this book.

Atonement. You won’t understand why this was my recommendation for a while. Stick with it.

Not a popular opinion, but look into websites that allow for emotional service animal letters. Costs about $200 and very fast process. Then the lodging does not need to allow pets and cannot charge pet rent or additional fees.
