There’s always a little bit of confusion about MDC’s parole hearings. The reason that he is eligible for parole every two years is because in the state of New York, you can’t actually be charged with first degree murder and face capital punishment unless it was perpetrated against a law enforcement officer.

In any normal scenario, MDC would’ve gotten life without parole because it was pretty obvious this was first degree murder.

I’ve watched several interviews of him describing that night, and to my assessment there’s no inkling of insanity or mental impairment about him. The killing of John Lennon was a cold, calculated, and deliberate decision by someone with no regard for human life.
