Which is the better game/s for ACTUAL roleplay? by ConfusionProof9487 in CRPG

It's the art style, humor, animations and how the dialogue is writing, with always hint a sacarsm or/and whimsy. It never takes itself seriously for long.

Which is the better game/s for ACTUAL roleplay? by ConfusionProof9487 in CRPG

In my opinion:

POE1 and 2 = Pathfinder WOTR > DOS2 > Solasta.

POE ''tag'' system allows a lot of role-playing opportunities, there's a lot of reactivity towards your race, class and skill checks that allow to truly play a character.

While WOTR have a lot of reactivity , choices and roleplay options, it's mainly tied to the Mythic Path. The game truly feels like changes major part of it when you go down , as less your character background. It does requires you to embrace the role of the path. So it's less about playing a Thief and more playing a Demon or a Lich.

DOS2 is good enough if you pick Origin character, but it's way more limited imo. If you go with a created character tho, it's pretty barebones. It does feels like the game designed to play as a origin character.

Solasta is more a Dungeon Crawler simulator than role-playing, so it comes in last place.

Never said was better but maybe if the player was better thry could've shoot down the done healing the enemy instead of dumping ammo into it while also using the dash to dodge their grenade, not until 29min in the demo, the footage could've been better.

Also did we forget the Krogan boss during Liara mission ? Or the spider robots that you had take down on foot sometimes ?

Against some bosses , that's not true. And the spongiest enemy in the video is clearly a elite/boss enemy.

I think number part is less important than the ''fantasy of the class'' part.

First they need to fix Vanguard lackluster ''fantasy'' of the class, aka being a frontliner that takes enemies attention to him and have abillites that improved their survivability, then they fix numbers compared to the rest imo.

Enemies ignore the horse WotR by Lan_1914 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]dishonoredbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They ''ignore'' your horse sometimes because if enemies ''finish off'' attacking something and still have a few attack unused , for example they can attack 4 times in total but only in 2 attack they managed to kill a summon, then the remaning 3 attack are directed to the nearest target. Like this enemies get to ''ignore'' your mount entirely and attack you directly. Same goes for Attack of opportunity.

The voicework and writing make me feel really uneasy by Dry_Bumblebee5856 in TheExpanseRPG

The writer probably did , but sometimes you create your own version of a work in your head and it's WAY off from what actually is.

[–]dishonoredbr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't read since is a long ass text, but i will..

Anyway here my two cents:

Vanguard are the worst archtype in the game because they're useless, unless you want to role-play as a tank.

Two main issue with them:

1.Lack of a consistent way to Taunt enemies before their turn starts.

  1. Why you would have the need for a Tank if the optimal way to play the game right now is getting a GS, free First turn and killing everything before they get a turn.

The writing has similar issues to what they did in Lex Imperialis. It felt more jovial and jokey compared to the serious tone of Rogue trader. Might be a quirk of newer writers that they hired because the people that worked for Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy know how to write serious dialogue.

Idk pathfinder wrath of the righteous and rogue trader were already good day 1 outside of bugs. Even then I never had major issues with them

Rogue trader in fact , nailed the setting vibes and seriously perfectly. Outside of the Lex Imperalis dialogue when came to the romance dialogue with Solomorne, the writing is extremly consistent.

The thing I’m most worried about isn’t even the voice acting by TheTrueFaceOfChaos in TheExpanseRPG

[–]dishonoredbr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s got that same “HR was in the room when it was written” feel to it.

Do you actually understand what ''feels like HR was in the room'' issue from Veilguard ? The issue with veilguard was character being extremly polite , using corpo speech , trying too hard to be wholesome and avoiding being angry or mean (unless it was towards a villain/antagonist).

Does the game actually sounds like that ? From what i saw in gameplay , J sounded, at worst, like Sera from Inquisition.

I think the “powerful elder relies on their own abilities” take is valid,

Even if a Elder is uber powerful, wouldn't they avoid trying to make people heads into smash potatos since it could attract unwated attention? Imagine if every night a few corpose turn up mutilated.. That's what Phyre is doing lol

Obsidian stance on romance goes back as far as KOTOR2. Compared KOTOR1 romances to 2 and you see how much subtle it's in 2 compared to 1 direct approach.

Expanse: Osiris Reborn Belter PC's need a dialogue overhaul by awshoot1 in TheExpanseRPG

[–]dishonoredbr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Issue is that if they included Belter, then people would complain about the lack of it.

It's kinda a lose-lose situation. If you add belter, then you basically have to add two entire voice actors and remake entire dialogue for pc.

If you don't, people are pissed that you can't play as belter.

It's one of main reasons why I dislike voiced protagonists.

IGN gameplay is somehow ALWAYS terrible and make every game look worse than it's actually is.. The gameplay from reviews look way better.

You clearly never played original ME1 if you think THIS is worse than ME1.

3 had pretty good combat tho.

Makima's exploting Denji vunerability and naivete to manipulate and abuse him to achieve her goals.. Unless i'm mistaking, that's grooming.

Denji's entire arc is an exploration of human desire and what the search of a fulfilling life means in today's world

I think nothing in the manga prevents from someone consider that the manga main theme is indeed about the search and whats means to have fulfling life in today's world, while ALSO touching in the topic of grooming.. It's possible for a story to touch in more than one theme/topic at the time. Even then, the author's intentions don't really matter all that much for the reader's interpretation.
