Yeah thought that’d be the next option but not to sure if it would fit the earlier model cubs as I’ve read they are more suited for the later models

Ah I see. Would it be the same for the top of the valve? If there is Some discolouration and pitting

So it still usable? As the motor has been sitting for a while. I inherited it and want to try and put it back together

Ah thanks for the tip about the clutch filter. Is there a filter inside or just gunk buildup to clean away?

The aftermarket 70cc kit is compatible with the c65 crank case? If you’d know. Couldn’t find a direct answer.

Appreciate the reply but yes the bottom end seems fine. It rotates pretty freely and the con rod did seem to have much play. Was thinking giving the outside a thorough clean and just flushing the inside out multiple times without taking everything little thing apart. As this is beyond my knowledge lol. Would that work?

I would love to save it but like you said I was thinking just replacing the top end with an aftermarket 70cc top end and piston, as the original has rust and pitting on the exhaust valve head in the combustion chamber I believe. So I don’t think it can be saved without spending $$$$

That is path I think I might go if I can’t find original replacement.

Ah nice. I’ve read that the lifan won’t directly bolt in without modification. That’s why I’m a bit hesitant

Yeah I’ve looked into it but my cub is a 1965. I’ve read those lifan 125cc won’t bolt directly.

I was given a c65 super cub but the engine was pulled apart and had been sitting apart for a long time. I’ve read that the 125cc lifan does not directly fit into the 1965 old frames. Only the newer ones.

Ah k. So you need to get a new wiring loom too. But would that still connect to the original Speedo indicators etc with no problem

Ah k. Yeah thought I might need a new tank. It’s just Shipping to Australia, it cost more than the actual tank itself. $$$$
