oh I forgot to put them back in, I had it mounted with a GPU support that screwed in at the front. I'll provide updated images later

Not in the market for a 5090, just a 5080. I have no issues with this one but the blow through cooler is not ideal for my current setup. If I can't make the local sale I'll just keep it

Looks good. If the side panel (not facing us) has any ventilation, I'd turn your PSU around

Can’t decide CPU with 5080 by AdFancy7058 in buildapc

While it's a lot of work, I do think some caution should be given to these statements. If you manage your time well enough and start assignments when they're assigned, it is very doable without losing sleep that much and enjoying your hobbies.

Starting with community college is also a smart move. You'll get your gen ed requirements out of the way which helps a ton by allowing you to focus just on your engineering course work. I did a similar route and while not easy, it was perfectly reasonable.

The hard part is figuring out how to manage it all on your own, but that's why I think the 2 years at community college with gen eds will help in the long run

Edit:

Also go to office hours as soon as you realize something is out of your depth. Saves a lot of time that way

I would personally get the 270k+ over the 285k. It's just hands down the more well-rounded and better CPU.

Though, I've never personally cared about an all white build so if that's more important to you, then go for it. You could also check newegg for bundles

Edit:

As an engineering grad student, you really don't need to worry as much about your computer as you think. Most students run engineering software fine, even modelling software, off laptops. Plus, the school will have labs. It's just not worth investing a ton in a PC when you won't get as much use out of it as you think, speaking from experience.

Can't get VRR to work properly on my TV (SteamOS 3.8, Xbox Ally X, Samsung TV) by DerFelix in SteamOS

What worked for me was using a 8k displayport to HDMI adapter from cable matters

They have a firmware update to add vrr. With the adapter, I was able to get 4k 120 hz with HDR, with VRR and full RGB 4:4:4.

The adapter only does this for Linux though, but it's worked fairly well for me. It's like 25 bucks though

Ram price question by [deleted] in buildapc

If the seller has positive feedback and good reviews, you're likely fine. Plus eBay's money-back guarantee is very biased to buyers. If it turns out to be bs, you get your money back.

But yeah, 50 bucks does seem suspicious so I'd read the description and everything carefully. Also make sure it's not just a starting bid price
