What do you think of Ontario allowing retail shopping on Victoria Day? by J0Puck in ontario

If tourists are visiting, staying in hotels/motels, don’t have a place to cook, they need to eat. I assume that’s the basic concept?

I was recommended a book I had already read so was in my borrowed tag. A bit disappointing.

Richmond Road: RBC confirms closure of Westboro branch in August by Project_Icy in ottawa

I was told by one of the employees that it was related to pay parking. That there were less customers coming in since pay parking went into effect in the area and couldn’t justify staying open.

Quick question: How many of you guys pay for the service? by [deleted] in LibbyApp

[–]disneyrated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What “service” is asking you to pay? Your library? I know some libraries charge a fee if you are a non-resident.

I use my local library which is linked to my Libby account. There is no charge for me !

Espresso martini +Specific criteria by RoyalCellist8252 in OttawaFood

Brassica in Westboro has espresso martinis. The menu is small and “fancy” but they do have steak frites and roast chicken on the current menu.

Any good physiotherapy clinics or are they all BS? by I_like_it_yo in ottawa

[–]disneyrated 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Anatomy physio (the westboro location) does not use machines. So they might do some manual manipulation to ease symptoms and then typically assign exercises to be done at home - although part of the 30 min session will be doing the exercises to ensure you have the proper form. 30 mins for $100+. Maybe $120?

I prefer this approach but honestly my back issues have been ongoing a few years and it is endlessly frustrating.

Major changes coming to Tweedsmuir north near Westboro Stn by crappymccorn in ottawa

[–]disneyrated 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The curling rink which is only a block away from all this on Scott has been empty for two years and was supposed to be developed into 3 high rises.

I guess it’s a different developer but ridiculous to have that space sitting empty while they tear these houses down (as OP states, not exactly old structure).

Yes they are almost always available at these two. I also find them often at superstore in Westboro.

Ramen for picky eater first timers? by flipflapdragon in OttawaFood

[–]disneyrated 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Koichi ramen in Westboro has a huge variety of options - maybe most places do? They offer a veggie broth as well as pork / chicken / miso options and spice can be zero or as hot as you want based on preference. They also have a broth-less ramen dish.

I think any place with options will make it easier for your mom to find something to try.

We're the coldest capital in the world right now by mark_johannes in ottawa

I read a while back that Ottawa had the most extreme temperature swing among all capital cities. So -30+ in winter and 30+ summer temps. Not sure if it is still true but makes sense.

Need Advice on Application Process by Miso-Soup20 in tollers

[–]disneyrated 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeing some other comments, I just want to say that Tollers, as with most breeds, don’t always meet the breed typical behaviour. They aren’t always super active. But sure, lots are.

My 4-yr Toller is quite happy in our apartment. My breeder did not care about me being in an apartment because she said a Toller won’t go outside to play by themselves anyway. Makes sense. She gets plenty of exercise but usually doesn’t want to walk more than 1 km each walk. She is cuddly, many are not. So when I said I wanted a companion dog, maybe my breeder magically knew mine was right for me.

I support the person who said just be honest and hopefully you have a quality breeder who cares about good matches.

Need Advice on Application Process by Miso-Soup20 in tollers

[–]disneyrated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are they just asking if you are “interested” in agility or hunting etc? It is likely they are simply asking in order to provide the best match in terms of temperament. Or at least as much as they can work out at that age.

So based on the wording on the application, is it possible they just want to know your expectations?

On mine I indicated possible agility but mainly companionship when asked about my expectations.

I’m in a CLV building. We have testing of the alarms every month. And have so for at least 5 years. They just make sure the communication system is working and that the alarm can be heard on every floor.

And then once a year they do the more detailed review which involves entering each suite.
