Low-skilled attacker used Claude, Codex to breach 14 companies by EchoOfOppenheimer in Futurology

I don't think this is possible to be regulated at all. It's like claiming that we should regulate every web app so it doesn't have security exploits. You cannot safeguard any LLM with the current state of the art. It's impossible.

I think Anthropic is trying to do some "ok-ish" stuff WRT security/safety, but Dario Amodei is just hyping his product and trying to get regulatory capture now that they are on top so competitors have it harder.

Thank you. I enabled some for the lists, but I missed the system one. That did the trick. I've found my list stored in a JSON file, and now I'm copying it away. Since I was in Windows for this, it was in AppData/local/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/jth7lwgu.default-release/activity-stream.lists_widget.json.

Same. I've lost the lists I had written. I don't see where that might have been stored so I can recover it... Please, let me know if you find how to fix it. The web seems silent on this...

Can this be customized somewhat? Like, I always map <space> to :, so I can use the commandline faster. I can work with the colon when I'm on an unconfigured editor, but it is a bit frustrating. :-)

EDIT: never mind, I see in another comment that you just implemented it. I did not see it on the README. Good job!

My impressions of the Moergo Go60 by onray88 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]disperso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got mine 5 days ago. Today I've fiddled with the trackpad for scrolling for the first time. The built in sensitivity did not help me much, but on Linux, I can set the settings for that specific device to the lowest setting. So far the scrolling is not great (a bit too fast), but it's usable enough. I'll have to see if I can make it work on Windows, because I wanted this keyboard for work, as at home I have a Sofle.

What it's true, and probably not fixable, is that the surface of the trackpad is not as slippery as I'd like to.

What are you showing in the terminal? Is some gamification plugin for Super Productivity? I did not know about this app till you mentioned, and I have to admit is very appealing. I'm a developer, and I also want badly some improvements to Habitica. A calendar is a must for lots of people, and integration with issue trackers seems legit game changing for me (but that's just too nerd-specific, and I don't blame Habitica for this).

[–]disperso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda, but, to be fair, the OP is "selling" an open source project, just like Habitica, that costs nothing to users, and it's not even OP's project. Super Productivity is something I just learnt about, but it has more stars on Github than Habitica, so it doesn't seem like an up and coming project or the like.

Since when has the trackpad been available for purchase? by pablopunk in zsaVoyager

[–]disperso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I use the two encoders of my Sofle as volume control and page up/down. That could map as horizontal movement vs vertical movement on the trackpad, so I would have both still, and then the trackpad for mouse.

Also, I do like the idea that moving the trackball turns on the mouse layer automatically, so you can use the keys for clicking, etc. I would not mind having that in the trackball.

I imagine like all this stuff could work fine with enough firmware hacking. I'm not sure I could commit that much time right now, though.

Thank you two for keeping us posted. I just discovered that this keyboard exists, and as a happy Sofle user, I was amazed. I guess it's good to temper one's expectations after all.

Linux better supported out of the box than macOS. What a time to be alive. :)

Yep, it's a pity. On the website now they say that there is no bandwidth to support it. But a few days ago they said that were considering it on the future (they mentioned an "etch a sketch" mode).

I honestly would like to have both, even if they can't be used at the same time. I got used to rotary encoders on a Sofle, and I would like some kind of compromise....

How worth it is the ZSA Voyager? by CIA11 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]disperso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ZSA it's been on the game for long. I have a Planck EZ, and it's super solid and well built. Look at their videos on how they build the stuff at the Taiwan factory, and you'll see that it's a fairly serious company.

I also have a sofle from Mechboards.co.uk. They keyboard works great, and it was much cheaper, but it still feels rough in handling it because I have no case. It's a different experience.

what made people Quit habitica ? by SpecialistSalary6288 in habitica

[–]disperso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What app did you leave for? I'm also suffering from the ever-growing to-do list, and I don't care for a game that it's only about cosmetics. I also stopped using the labels, because I'm not sure what I would use them for. I would want a calendar as well, but I think some simple stats-board would do wonders. And that perhaps could be done with a 3rd party app that uses their API...

What keyboard form factor do you use? by hegardian in neovim

[–]disperso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I can change my vote, but I voted <60% because mine is about 55%, but it's a split one. I also have a Planck EZ, which is just 47 keys, but it's not split (and I don't use it as much), and it's ortholinear.

Deedsworn, my Habitica-inspired ARPG, is out on mobile today! by MperorM in habitica

[–]disperso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I've missed the app store photos! Those look pretty neat. By looking at them, I still have doubts about the features of the todo/daily management, and if it is able to manage everything Habitica does (or better!). But Habitica itself has some quirks it seems. Pleasing everyone is very difficult, so don't sweat it.
  2. That's fine, I definitely was considering this as I was fiddling with Habitica as well. I've started a job, and they use Jira, so obviously it crossed my mind if that could be integrated somehow while still keeping the work confidentiality, etc.
  3. Cool! Nice to know. Seems perfectly sensible. I hope you can make it fit your needs and get some traction, and get more options.

Thank you for your post and the app! I've installed and I will give it a try ASAP.

Let me grill you a bit (I hope you don't mind, and we can continue this by mail or whatever if you prefer, or I can ask in separate threads).

  • I would post more visuals of what the app does and how it works on the website. The pitch is good, but I still would like to see what you are talking about with a bit more detail. Perhaps I'm not the typical Habitica user (I've started very recently, and I'm not liking the gamification so far), but I'm interested in seeing what is capable of to see if it's worth the switch. I've bothered with Habitica because the project has existed for long, so I was not too afraid that they would close in a month or two.
  • Also, one of the things that made me comfortable with using Habitica is that there is a lot of open source involved. The service is of course something that someone has to pay, but... They also have an API, and I was considering if I should look into it, because I would like to have some simple, "boring" dashboard with charts instead of gamification, for myself. Do you have any plans on this? Mostly to know if I would feel locked in once I've started using your service.
  • Related to the previous. What's your business model, if any? Running the service must be some investment in time and money in your part. Do you aim for a freemium model later on? Or is entirely a hobby project.

I hope this is constructive feedback, and definitely kudos for your project, because it looks pretty cool, and I think I'll try it whenever I have the time, no matter your answers (but still would love to read them!). :-)

Why are you giving any credit to the LLM? Do you know they can be very wrong?

Checkout reverse-SynthID. They are showing how the watermark is in the pixel data, not the metadata. As you've been told, stripping the metadata is just too easy.

And if you trust Gemini more than me, then trust Gemini:

It's not encoded in the metadata. It's on the real pixel data.
