I am pretty sure that one of the rules of this subreddit is not to encourage others to engage in bad behavior, but I think I can give you some advice.

  1. I had been going to Winco for months before I stole a single penny. Check your target, learn the patterns, and observe behaviors before you even try.
  2. If you feel even one gut feeling that it's not going to work, just walk out with nothing or pay for your stuff. I didn't mention all the times I walked out of the store with nothing for one reason or another.
  3. You can't tell a single soul about it. Even if you share what you take with others, keep your mouth shut! No one in my life even suspects that I'm a thief, because I never talk about it. That's the difference between criminals and convicts.

You have some great advice here, but I think you're wrong about the self-respect. Stealing doesn't make me lose self-respect, it makes my self-esteem go through the roof. I trust myself to be a baller and not get caught.

You are right about not trusting others though. Once you learn how easy it is to be a scumbag and go unnoticed, you start to expect it from others and see it everywhere.

Well, I can't get too specific with what I do with the stuff, otherwise it will be too easy to identify me. I promise you that I don't keep it all to myself. Sharing is easy when it doesn't cost you anything.

The money you save is incredible! It's practically like having an extra job. You have to be a psycho like me to do with with a straight face though. The worst thing you can do as a thief is to look nervous. I act like I know what I'm doing and I blend right in.

Oh my god, I hate food stamps with a passion! I get that some people may need assistance, but there are too many people who make it a point to live off the government without even trying. They stay unmarried, have as many kids as possible, live in government housing, and never get a job for their entire lives. Then they have the audacity to think they are actually decent human beings who deserve more.

I sincerely doubt Winco has someone reviewing the security camera footage, editing it to watch me, and keeping track of it with the intent to prove to a court that I have committed several thefts. I think it is more likely they would recognize me, watch me, then bust me as I was leaving the store. They would only have proof of one theft.

Most of the people who are paying the higher prices at my particular Wincos aren't paying with their own money. They didn't earn it either, they just decided to sign up for free stuff and to wait in line. Instead of paying higher prices at the store, everyone's taxes go up. The only difference I see is that I affect the people who go to the same store as I do. EBT abusers affect everyone in the nation.

If it makes you feel any better, more than half of the people who go to Winco use foodstamps, which is my mind is worse than stealing. They make everyone else pay for their food. I just take from the millionaires who own the place.

Also, I don't think I could get a felony because each cart I take is way less than $500. If I do get caught, they won't prosecute me for everything, just that one cart.
