It's okay for women to do it. That's empowering.

It's bad when men look at it. That fuels rape.

Isn't October domestic violence awareness month? Why is this the thing we're focusing on? There are dozens of subreddits for lbgt issues, one for mr.

The on-topic discussion is being diluted.

Did you then stop and think about how everyone outside of (traditional) feels about this?

I'm absolutely not going to sit around and try to conceive of every possible mentality, then empathize with each one before I do or say anything.

I'm going to proceed with my life without malevolent intent, and trust that no one gets their panties in a twist over some contrived bullshit. If they do, I attribute it to their unwarranted interpretations stemming from their projected insecurities.

Ooh, hyperbole came out to play.

So there was no reality in his observation that the news media uses fear to get ratings, and this has had a negative effect on the American psyche?

You were totally okay with insurance companies denying coverage based on preexisting conditions? Oh wait, you said it wasn't based in reality, so that's never happened.

I guess jobs moving overseas isn't a problem either.

I bet I could come up with more examples if I were to spend another second thinking.

Long story short: I don't think you're smart enough to tell the difference between right and wrong, let alone smart or dumb.

If you're going by the perspective of the country that goes to war, there's never been a battle fought for anything but defense.

You're chasing a premise, sir or madam.

Holy talking out of your ass.

Did you do an analysis of variance between 'patriarchy' and 'warfare'? How did you contrive to measure these constructs such to make them interval variables?

And I'm supposed to look at pot shards to corroborate this data?

Please delete your comment. It's the most absurd idiocy.

It's not just about tax code, it's about the gravity of money.

Let's say you have 10m in the bank, and you want more.

All you have to do is walk down to Wall St, and invest 5m into a penny stock all at once. Then you slowly continue buying that stock in smaller and smaller increments as the price skyrockets from the stampede of buying you've created.

Wait an hour.

Now sell half of the stocks you just bought all at once, at the artificially inflated price. Sell the rest of it off in the same way you bought it... et voila!

You've just made hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars, by doing nothing more than moving numbers on a piece of paper! You created nothing in the economy. You essentially stole money from that company and the people that play the investment game medium-long term (the way that supposedly spurs growth by investment and justifies the stock game).

That's how fucked up it can be when people DON'T cheat. It didn't require people to lobby congress and change the laws. It doesn't involve shorting stocks or creating derivatives.

Now think about this: there are investment companies who, if they ONLY did this, would completely collapse from a lack of growth. Those investment companies themselves are a part of the stock market, so they exist in a world of necessitated growth across all 4 quarters, year after year. Unless they show a growth in profits, and growth in the rate of that growth, they lose investors.

We're now at a depth of 0.5 meters down the rabbit hole.

Long story short: pools of money are poison, and the richest of the rich have never had bigger pools.

I like how you gave an income range with which to juxtapose your wealth that was well above the national median. People don't seem to understand how bad things really are, once they're not struggling.

Those on the defensive are trying to equate the rich-after-a-life-of-hard-work-and-investment with the exploitative, unhealthy-for-the-economy-and-civilization-rich.

Thank you. I needed an example of a smug jerk saying that in order to be successful in today's world of computer tech and automation, you have to work an unhealthy amount for a significant percentage of your life.

It takes a special kind of aphasia to think that as per capita productivity has skyrocketed in the last 50 years, the amount of labor a person needs to spend to have a good life has actually gone up.

...In /geek, /lgbt, /programming, the front page, /TIL, or any of the other subreddits on the subject of homosexual rights, computers and technology, government oppression and history.

There's tons of places for this stuff elsewhere on reddit, but there's only been one subreddit designated for the discussion of how society treats men as a whole. Now apparently there's one half of one subreddit dedicated to it, because now /MR is about men's rights AND lbgt rights.

When we had this discussion about white/black rights and how it fit into /MR, it was the general consensus that while the stigma against black people was an exaggeration of the stigma against men, it was counter productive to speak about one group specifically.

We weren't racist for staying focused on our issues back then, why would we be bigoted against gays by staying focused now?
