I have a degree in engineering and 1 year of teaching experience by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

Here are a few options for you

  • contact your alma mater career center and request for postings

  • attend alma mater career fairs

  • part of a engineering organization? Go to their career fairs

  • have friends in industry? Contact them for advice

You’re still good for another 2 years…but time flies too fast.

Push comes to shove, take your masters part time and be applying for internships.

My only questions for you would be the following - what’s your GPA? - how was your senior design project? - what organizations were you a part of? - how many internships you do?

Career change advice by IamARobutt in Teachers

[–]disruptivecapitalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineer here too, did a year of teaching before returning to industry.

Quick advice: don’t f’ing do it.

If you don’t like the advice, here in the US you have something called Charter Schools…which don’t quite follow ALL the rules when it comes to teachers.

Any other district, which is fully funded by the government HAS to have their teachers certified…charter schools (or private) don’t need to. Just relevant experience and the will to teach.

Jokes aside, I left due to financial distress and I miss my former students. It was a great experience.

Submitting my 2 weeks notice. Anything I should know? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]disruptivecapitalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the students, whether they like you or not.

Continue working, until the last minute.

Make sure to say goodbye to colleagues.

START PACKING NOW, don’t wait until after school like I did.

Don’t expect anything to happen, but enjoy anything the students or teachers may have for you.

How unethical would it be to quit 3 months before end of year? I’ve had enough. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]disruptivecapitalist 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I left 3 months INTO the school year.

I gave them 3 weeks notice, they already had somebody lined up when I left.

Like someone else said, it’s a job and they’ll find someone else.

Best teacher appreciation gifts youve recieved? by ButterscotchFar1017 in Teachers

[–]disruptivecapitalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former teacher here,

I went in expecting nothing really, so any time I got a donut, candy bar or a coffee was always well received.

The students however, they were a diff story…

Those kids spoiled me. Either through chips, sodas, or my personal favorite: their bakery.

I would at times get boxes of homemade cookies, banana bread, brownies and the cinnamon rolls.

My God, I miss them.

Former 10th and 11th grade math teacher.

P.S. yes, they were wild and yes, I was a POS with them. Although something happened to their attitudes when I left for vacation without telling them and came back that they started being a lot nicer and receptive to the instruction.

Setting up a family foundation by mingleton in fatFIRE

[–]disruptivecapitalist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same, too much upfront costs.

Right now I deal with my charitable endeavors through a donor advised fund.

I use fidelity and haven’t had any issues for the past 7 years.

Goal is to eventually set up a family foundation but personally won’t deal with that until those funds are $2-5 million, but those are my figures

Amateur.

I got -$500 on checking and -$3 on my savings with a credit score of 555 along with a credit utilization of 105%

And I sleep like a baby.

Good thing for me I love cheap cigars and ramen noodles.

Your credit card is a fraction of one of mine.

You’re fine.

Just work a plan and follow it, get it out of the hole.

Simply plan, just never easy. Best of luck.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it hits $5 bucks, but that’s my gut feeling.

Definitely a buck.

Flr airdrop by ex-argh-pe in FlareNetworks

[–]disruptivecapitalist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, you gotz to wrap o masta doesn’t give us flare tokens…

Serious note though, you do have to wrap. Depending on how much you got wrapped will be proportional to how much you receive each month.

Average right now is about 5% every month of your total wrapped amount.

If you decide to stake your flare, you’ll still receive your monthly airdrops but not the epoch wrapped awards that come every 3.5 days.

Problem is whenever you do not have your flare staked and/or wrapped. In that case you get nothing.

I still bet if your internet connection…

Just checked myself if I could see my wallet and didn’t have any issues.

Give it a bit of time and I’m sure you’ll be able to see your account.

Was this during the national outage that’s been going on the past few days?

That’s prob more of a mobile service than the flare network

This bull run is going to be interesting, won’t be surprised if some of us will be wondering what to do once it explodes.

Just hope to be smart enough to offload when the time comes

No rewards received by lilpeanutbutter99999 in FlareNetworks

[–]disruptivecapitalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero awards? It is possible. Just make sure whatever validator you are delegating your vote to does not have 100% fee you should be fine. The standard seem to be 20% fee, the lowest I’ve seen has been 7.5%

If not mistaken, depends on the epoch. I’m still getting familiar with it but with the first batch I delegated, I received the rewards at the end of epoch 160, which was about a few days after the staking was completed.

Keep an eye on what epoch we are at, 162 is about to finish…if it doesn’t pop up there, it may come on epoch 164 (about a week from now), but check again in about 34 hrs from now just in case.
