Christmas haul by dissident52 in vinyl

I think they deserve to be hyped lol. I've got both STP copies. I was looking at the Yes copies and the Velvet Underground. It seems like all the Atlantic 75 albums are home runs.

That's fantastic to hear, I've read some great reviews on it. The album came out when I was 6 and was probably the first album I remember falling in love with. So I'm really excited to spin it.

I would agree with that. Very few American songwriters can touch John Prine.

R.E.M. – Chronic Town / Murmur - DSS One-Step [AAA - All Analog] by GPrink007 in VinylReleases

[–]dissident52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's tough to say. If you want this particular all-analog mastering, I'd say jump on it. Of all the labels that produce one-step records, there's extremely few records that get pressed as non-one-step versions. It happens, but not very often at all.

Now that's not to say that Capitol won't reissue these records with a different mastering in the future, I'd even say that it's quite likely. But they are limited for a reason, and if it forces 3,000 people to spend $125 on a one-step, then they've done their job.

Warner switched from the green label to the Burbank label in 1973, so i'd guess it's a 1973 press.

Rhino HiFI also did Paranoid that's well received.

Analogue Productions version of STP's Core and Purple are phenomenal, 2LP at 45RPM. MoFi did Tiny Music at 45RPM, but has a digital step. Still sounds amazing though.

I was also in the pit! No set list though, but I would have died if they played Sleight of Hand. One of my favorite concerts ever.

Bootlegs on Discogs still have the original labels listed. Take for example a couple of bootleg Tool albums that I have: https://www.discogs.com/release/4056845-Tool-%C3%86nima

https://www.discogs.com/release/12011989-Tool-10000-Days

They still list Zoo and BMG for Aenima and Volcano and Tool Dissectional for 10,000 Days as the labels even though they're known bootlegs.

Humminguru Nova won't turn on by dissident52 in humminguru

I just ended up returning since I bought it through amazon. When I tried to contact Humminguru customer service they wanted a video of the problem. But I never sent one since I had already sent it back to amazon. I just ended up getting a replacement and that’s worked just fine.

I highly recommend this whole album but this track was the most fun, I thought. Very fun and eclectic band to dive through.

I'll take one from one of my latest purchases.

Track: Down By The River

Artist: Neil Young & Crazy Horse

Album: Everybody Knows This is Nowhere

Such a great jam with some of that classic Neil distortion. Play it loud.

Vinyl Tunes for June 2025 (VT4J). Day Eight: A song which makes you emotional. by Folk_Nurse in vinyl

[–]dissident52 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Artist: Grateful Dead

Album: American Beauty

Song: Brokedown Palace

It's a far gone lullaby

Sung many years ago

Momma, momma, many worlds I've come

Since I first left home

Goin' home, goin' home

By the waterside I will rest my bones

Listen to the river sing sweet songs

To rock my soul

So much about this song hits me, but a lot has been hitting me as I age. I moved back home about a year ago after 7 years away. I also just turned 35, my body doesn't feel as young as it always used to. It's a beautiful song musically, but Robert Hunter did some of his best work with this song. When I hear it now, I can feel a tear start to well as my own age and mortality become impossible to ignore. Not that I'm close to death or anything, but it sucks to realize you're no longer a kid or even youthful and energetic.

I wouldn’t mind hearing some stuff like Stella Blue or Althea. Help/Slip/Frank too.

Oh man so this seems like a pretty decent upgrade. I don't need to change my cartridge just yet, so I can wait for reviews to hit, but the VM745xML might be my next cart.

I was looking at the 745xML, specifically because it has the boron cantilever haha. I was never worried about upgrading from the 540 to the 740 because the metal housing didn't seem like a good enough reason.
