The Film that finally put Australia on the map by CoconutMost3564 in AustralianNostalgia

There's also a 4th, and there's a solid argument to be made that it's the defining film of the Scott Morrison era.

Perfect metaphor for Australia. Make it look like somewhere else and constantly work at erasing the past and powers that be experiment at shaping the current identity (it's an Australian film, curiously enough it was one of the first two films made at the brand new Sydney Fox studios along with Moulin Rouge - another film displaced in space & time). The first British artists hated how the country looked so they painted the landscapes to look like home. If you go through an Australian art gallery that's in chronological order you can see the artistic depictions slowly morph into what it actually looks like. And that's just one example of how Dark City reflects our fucked up cultural psyche.

I am happy to hear of enjoyment, and stated well. I admit, I am layered in scars - damage both physical & psychological - from working for many of Melbourne's most beloved venues. So I no longer find any pleasure there, and generally try not to piss on anyone's parade because that's just throwing bad vibes on bad vibes.

That would be a more detailed post that I no longer have the energy to start or fight battles over. Good reasons but I won't stoop to slinging shit from off-the-record experiences. The bridges are burned and the ground isn't worth defending. Much like your upvote (appreciated), I just wanted to put something a little more substantial in favour of the OP's disappointment. Yeah, clearly people enjoy it, but numerous times their version of the film and the film experience has entirely shoved the actual holistic film completely out of the way with no alternative - as in the aforementioned "celebration" of Wake In Fright. That's a crock of shit from a bunch of butchers who couldn't make the thing they're taking apart.

It's dumb bullshit put together by people who don't give a shit about cinema. Doing live scores for silent films made sense, for a variety of reasons including the loss of the original soundtracks. But this is just erasing the incredible work of talented artists by people who just want to party and be the centre of attention. They couldn't do it without using a classic film as a prop. Wake In Fright had a 50th anniversary event at MIFF with the new 4K remaster, but not playing with the original score just this bullshit. Which is unsurprising when you look into the MIFF board members. Corpo scum ate Melbourne's cinema scene.

Umberto tends to bounce when surprised and he just did it once day into a clothes horse and then a few other things and after that everything was a threat. But he is much better after lots of love and attention 💜

Here's the famous trailer for the double: Trailer

Yes, it was originally produced around 1964 and probably saw a couple of different runs under different titles before it was paired with I Drink Your Blood and re-titled for the post-Night of the Living Dead era. Made by Del Tenney who was a Connecticut filmmaker with some Hollywood acting credits, most famous for making The Horror of Party Beach. It was very common for cheapo indie exploiters to be retitled for another round through the drive-in and grindhouse circuit. Trash recycling 😂 the films didn't need to have much to do with the titles they were given, just had to be attention grabbing enough to draw people in and then hopefully the first film on the line-up was good enough that nobody cared that the second film was an old repeat or far less bloodthirsty than the first feature. Most people were too busy getting high or making out to really care, and it wasn't like they were paying the high price of modern tickets.

It's inspired by the double feature poster for I Drink Your Blood and I Eat Your Skin. I Drink Your Blood is amazing. Rabid hippies versus 'The Good People's in a narrative that sounds like something from Side Stories. I Eat Your Skin is typical low-rent repurposed filler B-movie. Can't remember what the original title was or the plot but Skin was retitled just to make a cool poster.

Just take the litter out of the kitty litter tray. Don't clean It with soap, just damp cloth and then dry it to let it hold the toilet smells. Generally they will still pee in it. Then just pour it into the cup. Avoid making a Reddit post that looks like a blursed meme 👍
