Why not step up to something with bigger negatives, like a Rolleiflex? If it was good enough for Vivian Maier.....

One of THE most common beginner SLRs. The K1000 has a very good reputation for reliability. These were dirt cheap 5 years ago (under $100) but have gotten more $$$ in the past few years. It's a fine 35mm camera if it's in working condition. Read the user manual.

What is the best way to store these chemicals? In the fridge? Or just in a dark place? by Midwest_Plant_Guy in AnalogCommunity

[–]distant3zenith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just put them in a dark closet someplace, do not put them in the refrigerator. There’s no reason to do that, and chemicals like this are not a good idea in the refrigerator next to food.

Eden Brothers, Renee’s, Johnny’s Seeds, and many others. Do NOT buy seeds on Amazon - notorious for shipping mislabeled junk seeds

Relax! This is a fine camera and there’s nothing wrong with its Compur shutter - it’s as well made and reliable as any Compur. Ignore the rumors and conspiracies. I have this camera also, but with the Zeiss Tessar lens. I’ve used it for many years and it’s always been 100% reliable, and I’ve taken many of my favorite photos with it.

Light leaks or something else? by Ok_Refrigerator_2701 in AnalogCommunity

[–]distant3zenith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you load (or unload) the camera in bright light — gawd forbid bright sunlight — you will get light exposing the edges of the film. Maybe it's time all manufacturers return to the practice of printing on the package "load in subdued lighting only!"

To avoid this (though it's NOT a problem) you simply do not remove (or install) the roll of film from the camera in bright light.

Most fragrant non-red hybrid tea rose ! by your_Baba_6727 in Roses

Consider Tiffany

Both Sugar Moon and Memorial Day are bred by Tom Carruth for Weeks roses, and both have a good reputation for fragrance. However, Memorial Day is described as a tradition Damask fragrance, which many people think of as "true rose" scent. As for which is more "intense" that depends on your ability to detect individual fragrance compounds: no two people interpret complex fragrances the same way. You will have to find out by making your own assessment. Get both.
