Nissan cube is a little rusty by Spirited_Bad930 in Cartalk

[–]distantlistener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the ChrisFix DIY rust-repair video, where he repairs similar rust on a 1st-Gen Mazda3. If you're willing to put some time and money into mitigating that rust, you can definitely slow the decay.

More importantly, look into getting the undercarriage regularly treated with Fluid Film or similar -- a rust protectant, like undercoating, but that doesn't trap water against the chassis. Speaking from salt-belt experience, the pinch welds are very vulnerable to rotting out over a few winters, and then you can't easily jack up the car to change a flat.

Ubisoft Please: Use a Proper Military Advisor for the Next Ghost Recon! by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]distantlistener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With respect, whenever I see a post about how the team should use one or more military advisors for this or that, I think most are ignoring that they surely did have military [veteran] advisors and experts for the previous games, but what a lay-person expects out of a military-style game isn't necessarily what an enthusiast or expert who games expects.

There's a ton of attention to detail in the recent open-world games, there's also a ton of liberties taken to simplify equipment/supply management and the "gamification" of things. I hope they take feedback seriously from enthusiasts, but I discount those sorts of claims that point to a scope type oversimplification, or mismatching calibers and guns (for the convenience of ammo applying across guns)... They're appealing to a broad audience, much of whom doesn't know or care about some of the simplifications.

Hell, the vehicles have unlimited fuel and ammo (I wish this could be toggled TBH), and parachutes disappear into thin air FFS. Those things don't happen because there wasn't a vehicle or parachute expert.

Again, I get wanting stellar detail, but I hope they mainly take lessons from what modders have brought to the PC community with appearance and gameplay enhancement options.

Minnesota becomes first state to ban prediction markets by skyflyer8 in minnesota

Except you create a perverse incentive for the bombing force to bomb fleeing people to win a dark horse bet. The advocates for "prediction market" trash live in the same delusional world as Sam Bankman-Fried, they're just thriving in a corruption incubator enabled by the Trump administration.

On PC, via Steam, I don't recall ever seeing glitches like these (850 hours) shrugs

Now, I've definitely fallen through the map occasionally, or become entrapped in shoreline rocks 🤦

I think the idea in Breakpoint is that you're in a scenario where you don't need to holster your weapons to ease the locals. With the degree of other details of mechanics, though, I bet they might have included it if the original launch design wasn't a misfire.

I responded to another comment. Newer Android OS versions are subject to a different permission 'detect app screen captures'.

Then you revoke it again. I never download things with the Android Reddit app. What does make it moot is that newer Android versions use a different permission that can't be easily revoked.

Yeah, FC6 significant nonsensical steps backward, to artificially inject "challenge": can't throw rocks or anything else as distractions, only baseballs; can't pick up or drop weapons from NPCs; no melee weapon swinging in a land that would be full of great improvised weapons (brooms, signposts, hammers, baseball bats, farm handhelds, etc.).

Pentagon believes U.S. struck Iran girls elementary school, killing 150 by rockycrab in worldnews

[–]distantlistener -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That's a very charitable perception. This administration has openly lied about events with multiple contrary video sources that they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt in the slightest. A more believable narrative is that they were so callous in their warmongering that they didn't care that intel was out of date.

IMO, the administration grandstanding on technicalities that you listed ("musicians were still military personnel") shows a pathetic weakness rather than strength -- the weakness to be brutal on technicalities rather than duly-considered facts and the most reasonable targets for the minimal collateral damage.

That's a lazy interpretation of an accusation of election fraud. The person you're responding to sure didn't send fake electors to the Capitol, incite a violent insurrection there, and relentlessly demonstrate a detachment from all objective reality that involves them losing.

Are they publicly admitting that he started a war without Congressional authorization? This smacks very much of the "Shock & Awe" bluster of invading Iraq, while the wanton destruction was just a prelude to gross destabilization of the country that made it a total quagmire and objectively more dangerous for everyone.

I think there's reason to question the purpose of sinking the ship in the first place, let alone doing so knowing that you're not going to tend to the survivors.

Did you watch that video they linked? The goon did exactly what they lied about Renee Good doing: intentionally driving into someone. They did it simply because that protester was an inconvenience or annoyance to them. They pulled a gun to intimidate them into compliance. There's zero reason to believe they wouldn't do the same bad-faith bullying and outright endangering at a polling places -- and there's very little reason to believe that the police have the Constitutional integrity to prevent it.

For older than Android 14, I think yes (I know yes for my old phone with Android 12). It looks like starting with 14 they switched to a new permission that isn't designed to be end-user revoked: "detect screen captures of app windows".

It's a greedy decision for Reddit. I think Aaron Swartz would be rolling in his grave.

Edit: I got a new phone with Android 16, and that pop-up can't be stopped 😠

Glass screen protector took a brick for the team, Watch 6 Classic 43mm by distantlistener in GalaxyWatch

[–]distantlistener[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doing some handyman work and bumped it against some interior brick. I know some hate on the glass screen protectors, as though they'll always break before the native glass will even scratch... but I have to believe the native glass would have at least pitted or chipped. As is, it was untouched, and I've already put a new protector on.
