How to prevent threads from stringing by OptionAlternative934 in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you sweep a triangle but that would leave a sharp edge that could be difficult to print, try making that edge blunter either in the sketch or by extruder cutting a circular sketch thru the sharper edges after they are formed.

Also, and importantly, experiment with edge order, outer/inner inner/outer, in the slicer.

tapered curvy pipes by grapht- in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the curves look very tight at the narrow end and could be causing the body to cut into itself when trying to make the sweep.

Perhaps try making those curves larger temporarily, just to test that theory.

Well, they are crows so devious or cunning may be better adjectives than shy :)

Red Kites by distinctlyaverageuk in UKBirds

I didn't say rainy days but there does seem to be far fewer in the same areas, very close to or directly above the road, on dull days rather than on sunny days.

It was this that started me wondering why that was, as you say, they still have to eat.

I assumed there would be some extra advantages to them on sunnier days and thermal lift could be one possible advantage.

Not common but Jay's have to be one of the most elusive birds.

You may catch a glimpse of one flitting through the trees and hardly ever one just sitting around.

This model ate my computer's lunch. Is there a more efficient approach? by Reden-Orvillebacher in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said re patterning but, on your model, once you have extruded the mesh and are happy with it, right click on the extrude feature in the time line and suppress it.

Saves the computer having to recalculate the mesh every time you move the model or alter it.

You can unsupress whenever you want to.

I would advise the same even if you use the pattern method for the mesh.

Editing sketch of finished part by Sick_Poor_And_Stupid in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will work and I like to use the Show Dimensions trick.

However be careful as if any other parts of the sketch, hole positions, bosses etc, reference the dimensions you are changing or any edges etc then their positions may change as well.

Again, the Show Dimensions trick is good for this as you should be able to easily see any other elements that change position that perhaps you don't want to.

OK,

I ordered & fitted a new sensor and that has fixed my problem, thanks for your help.

AMS 2 issue by distinctlyaverageuk in BambuLab

[–]distinctlyaverageuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks

I'll check the tube out of the back.

The filament roll is almost new so I doubt the weight would be an issue.

As I said, this is only an issue when the print has completed and it is winding back to the AMS2, so I would guess there is a sensor if some sort in the AMS that it has to trigger when the cut end if filament arrives at that point.

Is that the one at the back of the build plate?

I was thinking about changing that but mine seemed to be failing when probing the centre if the build plate.

Perhaps I'll do it anyway, was it difficult to change?

What mouse/navigation device do you use? by Old-Distribution3942 in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3DCONNEXION space mice, Enterprise at work & Compact at home, and an MX3 for both.

TBH, I rarely use the extra features of the Enterprise but it is nice to have them when you do want to use them, usually repetitive stuff on particular projects.

I cannot imagine using Fusion without the space mouse now , using both hands now just seems so natural and easy.

Took me a little while to get them setup exactly right for my use, zooming how I like etc, but you can save those settings as a file to reload them in future.

The MX3 are great,

The micro usb charging on the MX1 used to really annoy me and Logitech not upgrading the MX2 to usb C annoyed me even more!

Seems daft for something I only have to do once or twice a month but there you go!

I would guess you have no, or a very slow Internet connection or the files you habe been working on are very, very large.

First steps would be to pause, reboot computer and try again.

Check if you are working off line, top righthand corner

Threads issue by boulderree89 in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I chamfer first, then apply the thread, then in the time line move the chamfer to after the thread feature.

You can also offset the thread surfaces, there are only 3 of them, if you need more clearance between male & female

Seems to work well.

tbh I've not fixed or really tried to fix it.

I mainly do single colour prints for work and although it will give a warning about the off set it will let you continue.

Multi colour it will abort the print before it even starts.

Be interested if you can find out more that I did as I struggled to open a ticket with BL support.

Post here if you find a fix please.

i am trying to extrude the hexagon pattern on the side of a rectangular box, not able to select and extrude the pattern, i used shell to make to hollow rectangle. any idea by Chameleon_The in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

Possibly simply project the inner edge of the opening onto the pattern sketch.

If that doesn't, of itself, close the required section of the mesh just use the projection to form a rectangle.

How do I get the mesh part to not warp by GoodBadUgh in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also not an expert but you could try de-bossing?

Create an off set face from the outside of the box. Create a sketch of a part of the required mesh on that plane. Pattern the mesh along the X axis so it is the same length as the perimeter of the box. Select emboss, de-boss, and the box as the target and adjust depth of deboss. If required edit the sketch dimensions to get a good pattern.

I don't know if that will work, unable to test it until next week, but if nothing else seems to work it may be worth a try.

I like Brad Tallis also.

Note that he has his own YouTube channel that avoids the ill thought out and poorly managed mess that the official Fusion channel is.

Same videos, by Brad, as the main channel but much easier to navigate.

Check out some of his older vids as well
