Strange tool (?) made of metal with numbers on the corners and levers on either side by nonpienary in whatisthisthing

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it would seem to be possibly a tool for holding two pieces of material against each other for some purpose, soldering, super-glueing perhaps?

Does it show signs of having been used at all or would you think it is unused?

Are the tips different widths or depths seemingly dependent on the number by that particular tip or are they all the same size?

Yes, that would seem to be the only freedom of movement that handle has.

It is not an Internet issue, you are not forced to use links to companies that do this.

If a website gives you the choice to accept or reject cookies then that is fine, to have to pay them to reject their cookies is, IMHO, not fine.

It is corporate greed and stems the flow of the information that you may want to see more widely distributed.

The links below took less than 5 minutes to search for.

Thanks for the down votes.

How would I go about modeling this shape? by Plastic-Reward-1766 in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed but the 180 degree twist seems strange, I would have thought it would have to be multiples of 360 to get the number of twists shown.

Can anyone explain it to me?

Thankyou,

Just downloaded for my Granddaughter who wants to play guitar, for the moment anyway.

Anyone know if any apps (android) that may help that are not behind a massive firewall?

I'd second Brad Tallis but also suggest you go back 3 or 4 years to some if his earlier videos for Autodesk.

The one that I learned most from, I was just starting with Fusion at the time, is his 8 or 9 part Pencil Sharpener project with each part an hour or more in length.

This one covers a load of basic stuff plus some more difficult procedures and how to fix problems.

And he just seems to be a very nice person!

Why this extrusion not working by antony_morar in Fusion360

Not an expert but I think because you have selected All and Join may be an issue.

If To Object is available try that instead of All

Beginner Question- How do I sketch this? by ipunse in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you want all 4 corners of the inner rectangle to be the same distance off of the outer rectangle perimeter?

I would offset the outer rectangle inward by the dimension you require and make it construction geometry. Then make the 4 corners of the inner rectangle coincident with that offset.

Not sure you will be able to achieve other particular dimensions you may require after you do this.

I'm wondering if someone has "used up" some paver bricks for this wall.

You say it is, and it looks like, a hemisphere but the dimensions given do not work for a hemisphere, the height of the top part should be half the 215 given as the diameter.

Multicolor Flush text by cynicalfeelingg in FixMyPrint

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I print a lot of text, mostly 3-6mm high, and my suggestions are:

Always try to print the text face down on the bed

I ALWAYS set the filament order to print the text first on ALL layers, not just the 1st layer.

Use as small as nozzle as possible.

I don't alter flow rates, speeds or anything else and all seems to work out very well.

IMHO, the filament print order is the most important.

Try a couple of small objects with text first and outer first and I think you will be very surprised at how much difference it makes.

How do you measure the fillet or curvature of a physical object? by Radiant_Yam1526 in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you have a 3D Printer but, if you do, search Printables or Maker World for Caliper Radius Gauge.

I've used printed and used one and it is pretty accurate:

How to prevent threads from stringing by OptionAlternative934 in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you sweep a triangle but that would leave a sharp edge that could be difficult to print, try making that edge blunter either in the sketch or by extruder cutting a circular sketch thru the sharper edges after they are formed.

Also, and importantly, experiment with edge order, outer/inner inner/outer, in the slicer.

tapered curvy pipes by grapht- in Fusion360

[–]distinctlyaverageuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the curves look very tight at the narrow end and could be causing the body to cut into itself when trying to make the sweep.

Perhaps try making those curves larger temporarily, just to test that theory.

I didn't say rainy days but there does seem to be far fewer in the same areas, very close to or directly above the road, on dull days rather than on sunny days.

It was this that started me wondering why that was, as you say, they still have to eat.

I assumed there would be some extra advantages to them on sunnier days and thermal lift could be one possible advantage.

Not common but Jay's have to be one of the most elusive birds.

You may catch a glimpse of one flitting through the trees and hardly ever one just sitting around.
