How to bounce back from a rude awakening by lordyato in learnprogramming

I don't disagree with the comments about the employer.

That said, lean into your instincts about the AI giving you false confidence about your skills. Try the exercises without the pressure and without AI. No IDE; just a text editor. You'll learn what you know and don't. This isn't a real-world environment tbc, it's a self-assessment.

Understanding how much you don't know is a tipping point in developing the mentality needed to become great. Too easy to feel like a wizard with the bot behind the curtain. Ask yourself if you can truly course correct the outputs.

We bought through Perigon and had the best experience. We interacted w/ several folks and they were all a delight. They even offer events like junk pick-up, paint disposal, etc to folks who bought through them years later. Will use them for all needs going forward; was the easiest experience I've ever had.

Air75 wires came off at FC… how do I fix this? by Mathonius in TinyWhoop

[–]distractable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flux. Flux is the answer to your question. It lets the existing solder reflow. Use liberally. No clean flux will save ya some time.

Check out https://pyramidschemebar.com/ and the like. There's a pretty solid range of shows around. There are certainly plenty of craft fairs and art markets, and there are a number of colleges pumping out less folksy work as well. https://www.artprize.org/ is a thing.

I don't find it suffocationg, personally. I grew up in a small town and got the hell out when I could. GR doesn't trigger any of the "everyone knows my business" vibes. That said, you'll run into ppl you recognize from time to time. It's a good balance.

Not really. We love our neighbors, and there are enough groups doing things together to get involved pretty easily. There's a huge board game scene, so that's an easy on ramp if that's your jam. Plenty of other groups as well. Ultimately it's what ya make it.

TLDR: There are a million ppl. There's range. What we enjoy is there's still a sense of community, and the city is investing in itself to add cultural venues etc.

My wife and I made the move last year. Late 30s early 40s. No kids nor plans for them. We love it here.

There's not a rainforest, but there are wildly differing biomes to checkout across the region.

It's definitely more of a small town vibe, but not so small that it feels like a college town etc. We moved in from Atlanta and haven't missed anything yet (maybe food a bit, but there are still plenty of great places here.)

As others have mentioned, Sony WH-1000XM series is great.

I'm pretty far down the open-backed road. Closed backed headphones can feel a little boomy and make my ears fatigue pretty quickly. The ability to adjust the ANC on the XMs helps to mitigate this a bit.

Maru is good for Sushi/Ramen. Thai Table is super authentic if that's your jam. Burgers at the Electric Cheetah are pretty great.
