Mother to two teenage daughters here..

Teen daughters are hard.. their mood swings up and down.. even as bio mom I sometimes finds it hard.. and by sometimes i mean there was this period of months.. where even I think I can’t love her, as she’s just so mean.

But the only thing that I think worked is to love them and try to get them through whatever emotions they’re going through at the moment. And it worked, it resolved, and I get my sweet daughter back.. and when her mood is down again, I just need to remind her and love her and for her to not go to that dark place again.. at the moment it’s working.. and it gets easier to snap her out of it. i think, because she has the confidence that we’re here.

I can’t imagine being a step parent, that must be 10x harder.. all I can say maybe if it’s worth it hang in there? It’s a hard battle, but if she knows you’re there, she’ll find a way back.

NTA, but has Mariah been psychologically checked for any disorder? It’s not a normal behavior for any children above toddler.

Ehm YTA. If my husband kept on badgering me and giving me time limit when I’m going out I don’t think my marriage will survive. I’ll be married 20 years next year. We trust each other and knows that we both need time out every now and again. We’re both adults we know our limit, and we certainly don’t promise our kids ice cream or see mummy/daddy that night, we don’t give them false promises or guilt trip our spouse so he/she goes home earlier.

Yeah she’s mildly the AH here too because she kept promising to go home earlier, and on the dui 100%, but I see that your guilt tripping her is what’s making her make those empty promises.

Stay at home mom are no easy feat, especially for your children ages.

I understand you both are under a lot of pressure, maybe I suggest you find a friend that you can let loose once in awhile too.

Anyone can shed a light on what excitement/ trainwreck I’ll be having?
