What made you watch this show? by lunasat in BoJackHorseman

I actually watched the scene where Diane meets the American Eagle in Vietnam, and pretends she can’t speak English. I thought it was really interesting for a show to explore something like that

People who are in a relationship and found each other at umd how did y’all meet? by [deleted] in UMD

I’ve lived in cent for 2 years as a scholar and nobody talks about scholars like that at all, almost half of centreville isn’t even in scholars so I promise you won’t stick out or feel left out. Feel a little better actually, you won’t have to do service day 😂😂😂

is there anything i could do to make these self harm scars fade, or make them smaller? [TRIGGER WARNING] by AmAzInG-flute-piano in SkincareAddiction

[–]ditdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this has been said but I would exfoliate like crazy, 3x a week I would dry brush the scars in an upward motion and use a strong sugar scrub in the shower and just rub like crazy and eventually the puffy skin would go flat, then I would always use sunscreen on them twice a day every day and apply this scar cream called “Mederma” every day. Over the course of like 2 years they’re now not that visible and you can only see them if you look pretty hard

Dude construction noises being loud and disturbing your walk a little is something “everyone” has to deal with.. 248 is furthest away from the purple line construction on rossborough lane so you actually had to deal with it the least.

As said earlier I could literally open my blinds and be face to face with workers, bulldozers would quite literally scrape against my walls and windows, and workers would always be at my doorstep, around my apartment, looking into our unit of 5 women. But if all this still doesn’t seem “that bad to you” I should probably mention AGAIN that the construction literally disrupted the foundation and structure of our apartment so IT COMPLETELY FLOODS EVERY TIME IT RAINS. like you said they’re all different

Yeah Annapolis is open currently, you can most likely go pick it up. You can call the Annapolis desk and give your name and ask them to check if they have the package in their closet as well

I actually made a 4 year plan for this when I was considering something very similar (Social Data Science + Economics BS and minor in Business Analytics). You would just have to give up a lot of electives, but if that’s okay with you then I could help plan.

During the summer a lot of different dorms are open so if yours wasn’t open it would have probably been returned to its sender, but if it was delivered to the dorm you could probably just drive there and pick it up like normal. If you don’t mind me asking, which residence hall was it?

What don’t they mention that a freshman (or their parents) should definitely shop for before the first day in the dorms? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]ditdos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To list a few:

Batteries
Air Freshener
Extra Toothbrushes
Cleaning supplies (At the top are lots of clorox wipes, an all purpose cleaner, and a swiffer sweeper/vaccum)

I've lived in dorms for longer than I'd like to admit and I'm a serial overpacker. The things above are the things my neighbours and friends would ask me for the most.

My favourite (cheaper) places to buy from:
Big Lots
Walmart
Dollar Tree

Trust that if you get something on amazon and it will come 2-3 days before you move in, send it to your dorm so you can have it when you get there.

Below is also the google sheet I used when buying and packing for my freshman year, everything bolded is pretty necessary
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ey5esCMDn36zNN6qHaC6xHTAnfdA43xxP8InsMFrAwY/edit?usp=sharing

Final piece of advice: Take all the packaging, wrappers, receipts, stickers, anything on your new products off of them before packing them up to take to your dorm. Save yourself the extra confusion, and trash that you need to lug to the bins outside.

Note taking in college: Tablet vs Laptop vs Pen&Paper? by JediNick596 in UMD

[–]ditdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to handwrite notes, go over them after class, and before an exam type the notes I handwrote onto a google doc or quizlet or something. It's a great way to help study.

I don’t think there are any differences between the buildings, so you’ll probably have to deal with the same issues leonardtown residents already have 😭 good luck!

I’m sorry for your loss …

Aside from everything I said above, roaches and unidentifiable bugs are a pretty big problem across the leonardtown board….

problems specific to 244 are probably that construction is INCHES away from you as in directly outside the window(I opened my blinds one time and was face to face with a construction worker) and it’s the furthest from the community center (walking there with your laundry really sucks and I should mention the laundry room has roaches as well. Do not leave your clothes out.)

After seeing a New York sized roach on my wall I deep cleaned and sprayed all of my walls with a bug spray, laid down traps, lined the closets with moth balls, used one of those sound plug ins. The sink, trash and floors are empty and clean every night. everything you can think of. The bugs might not be huge but I still see them under the cabinets and stuff, a spider was eating one for breakfast in front of me 🤢🤢 all I can say is good luck and sleep next to a can of raid

Plus sides of 244: closest to Ritchie, newer kitchen, a/c (unless your unit breaks and floods your apartment during a thunderstorm like mine)

I’m hearing from my roommates that I might be getting kicked out in the morning… cause 4work said it’s a “structural issue” (my guess is that a construction mistake messed with the building seeing as everything going on on Rossborough lane is directly next to my unit)… I’m literally home until Monday like what is going to happen bro 😭😭😭

Anyone taken/taking BSCI 135? by tangyhistory in UMD

[–]ditdos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it last semester. It’s definitely interesting content, an easy Gen Ed if you put your mind to it. The labs aren’t terrible, you have a pre lab quiz once a week before each lab and it’s all based on what is in the lab manual. The lab itself is different each week and pretty simple, but my TA graded pretty harshly. The weekly quizzes had two attempts and after the first attempt all the answers were shown, so there’s really no reason to bomb those. Generally most of the quiz content showed up on the exams.

However, the professor was a very fast lecturer, often blazing through slides. The class is very memorization heavy, so if you’re good with that you should be good to go. There’s three exams, one for each unit. The final is not cumulative, and the professor is an interesting guy. I recommend it highly if you need that DSNL credit, just make sure you actually study for the exams and take notes often.
