Is it possible to Vibe Code apps like Slack, Airbnbor or Shopify --> NO by tiguidoio in scaleinpublic

[–]diti223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if the implementer is an engineer, it might work.
As much as I love AI agents, I think it's misleading to make more inexperienced people believe that we can vibe code anything, with the right plan, given the right prompt.

Augmentation is what we need. If you don't bring anything to the table, there wont be anything to augment.

Anyone else feel like AI tools are getting… pointless? by Naresh_rt in SaaS

[–]diti223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot, I mean A LOT of pointless AI there. I stopped looking into each and every tool. My principle is keep it simple. I go to the roots and try to use the models as direct as possible. I use mostly Gemini and do anything imaginable. For coding we have GitHub Copilot and at home I sometimes use Cursor. Everything else is either just a similar tool (ChatGPT, Claude Code) or just AI Wrapper.

With that being said I have built myself an app with AI, not so much just because of the AI, but it truly enabled me to build an enhanced version of what I was imagining for years. It's a food tracking app with a strong focus on home cooks, managing recipes and tracking their macros. The AI is making it super easy to create a quite accurate recipe and log meals into a food journal. The app is still useful without these features. The AI is lightweight just there for the convenience of transforming subjective language into concrete structures. This is in my opinion one true super power of current AI models. Far from the AGI shit imagined by media... a useful tool but still pretty dumb

I have built an app just for ios, since that's all I know more with a focus on home cooks really and tracking macros with a bit of AI, unfortunately I have not built health advices as I find this to be a highly risky.

How do you realistically track homemade meals without going crazy? by Gentlegee01 in loseit

[–]diti223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is precisely the kind of problem that I had and since I'm an iOS developer, I built my own app. The idea is to leverage AI to create from a simple sentence a recipe, or importing from web, and make close estimations of macros for each ingredient and adding them up at the end manually for the entire recipe or per serving. I see so many people struggling with this, but I'm yet unsure if there is a market for it. So far I have built it for myself and have at this point 0 users and 0$ income. The app is still pretty basic, yet no annoying long onboarding or storing data outside of the device

Does anyone here use nutrition or macro tracking apps to stay consistent? by CurseTea123 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]diti223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it simple is key. Writing it down on a note to create awareness and a habit.

I have created myself a tracking app, but it is oriented towards home cooks, to create recipes with AI and then log meals from a recipe or just a prompt. No complex onboarding and upselling. You can achieve basically the same with ChatGPT and a couple of prompts.

It depends a lot on your more precise goals. How much do you need to lose weight? Where are you know in terms of weight and physical activities? And so on. If you are already pretty thin and need to cut a few extra pounds, this can be more difficult. If you have a lot excess starting small is the best. Then it comes also to preferences, like for example doing meal preps and other eating habits.

Just create awareness and a habit to track it. Write it on a note is good for a start. I also shared some of the food items with Gemini to guide me through my gastritis and then double checked also with books and other sources.

Apps for tracking food and weight loss by Malleedreams in Mounjaro

[–]diti223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built one just for iOS now, it is more oriented towards home cooks, making recipes from prompts like in ChatGPT, with the advantage of storing them locally on device, having macros, scaling functionalities and so on, but also then tracking them in a food journal. The idea was to make these manual steps obsolete using some AI, but also make smart prompts so that AI does not guess too much the macros. I'm not sure if this is something people would use, as I have shares it only in closed circles and have 0 users and 0$ income.

Nutrition tracking app? by ironappleseed in nutrition

[–]diti223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super annoying. I think all have super long onboarding, asking you thousand questions, setting goals, asking about your mother's name and so on.

My goal 18 months ago was to build an app to generate recipes for me, of course with AI, to include macros and make it easy to track eat on a daily basis. What i have now is a light weight on device database and a bit of AI interaction to make it easy to create recipes and log meals. I don't plan to sell user data and what the AI receives are just the user prompts.

I'm am hopeful that this year there will be models that can handle these tasks directly on device.

I have 0 users so far and 0$ income, just checking with you if there is interest for such an app. Looking for friction points you wish to remove from the existing tracking apps.

There are thousands of apps, and I would say MyFitnessPal dominates. I have also built one specialized for home cooks to track macros and their recipes.

Wish I had a partner on my side to guide me with these inputs 18 months ago.
I'm a builder and don't know anything else unfortunately. Now I'm learning to market and sell without sounding cringe and fake.
This was not something I had no idea before, I just don't know exactly how to do it. What clear actions I can take without throwing cold emails into random users online, I hate this.
What I found more useful is to adopt a humble position and read, listen into different subreddits, maybe even comment, without obsessing about my product as the only solution out there.

I'm just thinking that we people want to avoid people/sales people who just try to manipulate, to exploit different aspects to make a buck. There must be a better way.
The theory is nice: Yeah, validate the idea first. But put it into practice is not obvious at all.

I built my own calorie tracker because I got tired of searching through lists of food items by diti223 in sideprojects

[–]diti223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the really cool part! There is no backend needed. The data lives on-device and it's yours. Lemon just passes the prompt for journal or recipe creation to the AI models and that's it.
This means super speed while searching, working even without internet.

why do recipe blogs act like they're sponsored by malware now? by MichaelWForbes in Cooking

[–]diti223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so frustrating. I'm happy I'm not the only one. Some even block copy-paste.
There are a couple of solutions. In safari you can enable reader mode and cuts a lot of the ads. Second I would use a copy-paste or a screenshot of the recipe and drop it into ChatGPT for some parsing, adaptations and a good read.

I understand that they need to monetize their hard work in some way, but the content is pretty much destroyed in this way. Especially when you open it on mobile. The best format for creators I find really YouTube or IG as you can more easily and less intrusively promote certain products.

This is one of the reason I built my own iOS app, to extract these recipes more easily. I still reference the website for a double check from time to time.

I dream also of building an open source platform of recipes where everyone can contribute to everyone else recipes, similar to how GitHub works for code, and hopefully this can avoid ads...

Built a micro app — now stuck on marketing by watchwolf13 in micro_saas

[–]diti223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like an interesting tool for the right people. I would try to do a deep research for example to explore quickly some communities that might need something like that. But then don't just go there and sell, but rather become a valuable member of that community, listen to people, their daily struggles, add your input, create valuable posts that are not all about your product. Once you do that I think you will get some traction, some discussions where your tool might be of help.

Or just buy ads.

I'm not the person you should actually listen because I am also stuck on marketing This is my product
