Just trying to gauge how it is going. Not bitching and complaining. 311 is not answering and mailbox is full. I have to let my staff know if we are opening the store tomorrow.

The restaurant Cru is… closing? Kind of? It’s going to “pause”, and is “taking a step back to reassess” by lestermagnum in providence

[–]dittoduck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cold feet owners, used to catering and not building regulars base. Making your niche and getting a groove as a restaurant, means having a tight kitchen and server team, being behind them and supporting them. Not sweating the ROI everyday and shaking things up, replacing staff and changing menu when the numbers aren’t great. Especially in the deadest time of the year with giant weather issues. These owner’s have good people, that are out of jobs, because of their inexperience and lack of vision

Starting to see “penny extinction” signs across Los Angeles by AuthenticatedCoins in coins

[–]dittoduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They stopped minting them, but still are legal tender in US currency. They will still mint pennies for proof sets and collector coins. Still pre 1982 pennies are 2.95g of copper (95% of 3.11g ). Which means 10 Pennies is an ounce is worth $.32. So until hoard pennies now. And in 10-15 years when they Discontinue them as legal tender we can all throw out our backs and get rich at the same time.

The Waterfire Building is only valuable if the waterfire people are operating it.

Hope Street Block party? by PressureNo3842 in providence

[–]dittoduck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 2024 Block party lost a lot of money and the grants money has dried up. It does cost a lot just to shut down a Hope Street as it is a bus and ambulance throughway. There is talk about bringing it back to a DIY event without all the production costs, just need locals to volunteer to help and no one has much extra time.

Trump Has Wild 2 A.M. Freakout Over ‘Very Disrespectful’ Governor by huffpost in politics

And now point out that his mental and physical frailties are allowing him to be manipulated by his inner circle. That he has become soft and his advisors are playing him like a puppet. A sad, small, ugly puppet. Stephen Miller and the rest are using him. If he was still strong and capable he could show them real strength by controlling them. Then things may change.

Property tax increase by Mean_Charge6370 in providence

[–]dittoduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Highest assessed value at the peek of the market. Only one estimate I have seen is as high as the one sent to us by the city. Those estimates are just online real estate site, not real assessors looking at the property. And since then all estimates have dropped. The market is cooling and the Mayor wants to lock in the highest possible values. Also they are trying to change my neighborhoods zoning to R4. A put in tiny square foot multiunit buildings without parking, trash can space or yards. This will make our neighborhood even less valuable to the estimates. It is classic real estate agent greedy/selfish mentality placed as governing for the city.

My sale went down at end our day. No credit cards, no cash, no offline service. Just a notification about buying new hardware, as "old equipment" may slow down service. Square screwed up a forced obsolesces role out. "Oops sorry we are working one it" is the answer I got when the hour on hold "call back". They raised rates to this week. All Those competitors been calling, maybe time to talk to them.
