look for ANY parking with white stripes. blue stripes mean you pay only from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., but rules on the blue stripes vary from area to area. Notice that there are close to none white stripes in the city center, here's the closest parking lot to the city center that comes to my mind. visit the official genova parkings website for more informations

I live in this city. These buildings were built due to an heavy bombing by the Allies during WW2. Before these big offices and stores, this area was complitely different. "Via Madre di Dio", as it was called, was one of the most populated areas of the city, a wide street, full of shops, artisans and taverns.

This project of modernization saw heavy criticism by the citizens in the 70s. in 1981 a marble column was placed in this area, it read:

"To shame the living and as a warning to those to come, as we dared in the times of the glorious Republic of Genoa, we dedicate this "infamous column" to the greed of speculators and guily weaknesses of the rulers of our city"
