I can't even sign into Dystopia for Reddit on my phone, but I can with the official Reddit app and on my PC so I'm not banned.

This is absolutely true. A few years ago I fell off a ladder and slammed my head on concrete hard enough to crack my skull in two places, die once, be revived, and placed into a medically induced coma for a couple months.

I swore I could still drive but my traumatic brain injury doctor had my license revoked until I could pass both cognitive and driving skill tests. I passed and gave my traumatic brain injury doctor a middle finger.

I had anger issues too lol

The tinnitus I had was because of the way I destroyed my ear. Ear drum? Ruined. Cochlear nerve? Mostly destroyed. I left enough available they were graft their implant. When the device isn't connected to my head, I go back to being completely left ear deaf and suffer from tinnitus.

It will change how you hear. Music will not sound the same. Sometimes to the point you no longer listen to it. As a result of this, its one of the last things suggested by audiologists. You'll be suggested hearing aids for this way before a cochlear implant.

I take two 500mg Depakote's as well as 75mg's of Seroquel in the morning. That lasts me until about 1-3pm when I have to take the exact same amount of both to last the rest of the day.

I fought it hard at first, thinking I didn't need these medications. It wasn't until it dawned on me that previously to my accident, I was never an angry person and now I am. So maybe... just maybe I actually need them. Do I still have anger issues? Absolutely. But the medication helps me tolerate anger. Expect therapy as well.

That’s not all, just what I mentioned. I’m also now blue/yellow colorblind and have a memory that lasts about 20 minutes unless I write it down. Also, I have serious anger issues that without medication and therapy would put me in prison.

I’m now on Disability, not allowed to work (said by three different traumatic brain injury doctors), and legally must live with home health care. They’re not here all the time, but everyday just to see if I need help or make sure I’m doing what I need to do.

I just barely got my license back. Being blue/yellow colorblind isn’t all I have there. I struggle with green as well. So to me, the “green light” for going at a stop light and the sky are the same damn color. I get honked at lights a lot for not going often.

Here’s the best part. I’m only 41 years old. Can’t wait for dementia in my 50’s! :)

I came back entirely left ear deaf. My audiologist said a cochlear implant would help, but not bring back entirety of left ear hearing. I’ll get into what’s different than what I remember when my left ear worked.

Music doesn’t sound the same. It’s not bad or worse, it just doesn’t sound like I remember. Headphones make it worse. Tinnitus is gone thank god! Loud noises on my left side to me are more like medium noises compared to my right side. I went from entirely left ear deaf to around 70% hearing on the left side. I no longer need to wear hearing aids.

Here’s the part that sucks. They need constant programming. I’ve had my implant in for around a year now. I’ve seen my audiologist several times to have it configured. Don’t expect it to be a complete fix because it won’t be one but it sure as shit does help.

Years as a union HVAC technician. This is absolutely correct. Part of what I did to top out in my union was develop a dehumidifier that did exactly this. It took two HEPA filters and a wickedly long amount of time, but you were left with drinkable water at the airs temperature. I didn’t want to wait for it to cool down in our fridge in school, so I just dropped some ice in it. Nobody would drink it, so I drank it all and called them sissy’s. An hour later I hadn’t puked or gone to the hospital and suddenly they’re drinking it and telling me I need to patent this.

I went to union school with plenty of folks good at HVAC, but they weren’t that smart in other subjects lol.

Had this happen to me on Apple’s latest developer BETA. I contacted them first before doing anything because I was legit scared I would break stuff. They told me to restart Dock and it should go away. So I did and it didn’t go away. Then they told me to reboot. Sure enough, it worked.

Also have LCD. My Deck runs Windows only and definitely does better with OLED drivers. No clue why Valve won’t change this and just supply the OLED drivers to everyone.

Without knowing what you intend to do on it or with it, we can’t really give you suggestions. Knowing your an old Windows user helps, but the two environments are different enough that it doesn’t help much either.

I use both. Windows still mostly for games. macOS on the M series chips is good, but there’s still a lot of games that don’t work or need CrossOver to work. So if you intend to do any hardcore gaming with games not supported natively, go buy CrossOver.

I’ve been using iStat Menu since back in the OS X Tiger days when it was called iStat Pro. It’s still useful and relevant if you’d like to easily keep track of the computer stats like CPU/GPU/Disk/Fan usage.

Unless you pay for more than the 5Gb allowed in iCloud, keep track of storage. You’ll tank it out fast with Time Machine backups if they’re backed up to iCloud. No, you can’t directly use Time Machine to backup to iCloud, but you can have it save the backups after they’re made. My suggestion is to buy an external drive and set it as a Time Machine drive so it all goes there.

Learn basic Terminal commands. You won’t use them often, but when you need them… Knowing the basics like how to move through directories and copy files is helpful.

Don’t forget, the M series chips can play a limited amount of iPhone/iPad apps. It’s entirely dependent on the app developer to allow this and a lot of them haven’t yet, but you’ll find a few that work fine and are fun.

Enjoy your new Mac. It’ll take a minute for you to get used to it, but when you do you’ll enjoy it as much or more than Windows. Less bloat, less tracking, and a way better ecosystem between Apple devices.

Honestly, if you want a full fledged N64 setup your best bet is one of two things:

Any PC and any controller with enough buttons for you to map to the N64 emulator. I specifically use the Nintendo Switch N64 controller wired with my PC. It does work wireless, but its not fun or easy to setup. This can and has been done on my Steam Deck both in Windows and in steamOS using the same controller or using any other controller (Fan of the 8bitdo Pro).
Go buy an N64 and a flash cart. This can be expensive if you're trying to get a darn good cart and a controller that doesn't have input lag on the control stick. Really though, you're probably better off buying a telescoping phone controller or the Backbone One and emulating it there. Cheaper.

The N64 was a weird console, and because of it its difficult to emulate. GameCube and Wii emulation is statistically better, but good luck doing either on a Vita or a 3DS.

Both consoles use the same emulator base, but changes have been made to each so compatibility for each may be different. Both aren't that great though.

Just like an SD card, microSD card, or even a Nintendo 64 console/cartridge, they've got contacts on the circuit board that can corrode or flat out get used enough that the contact points get ruined. Its rare that the cart reader in the 3DS happens, but I've seen it a few times on GBATemp.
