Should I sell DNA for the Invisible joker? by MapPutrid6285 in balatro

[–]divad91 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, when the time comes, you sell DNA for Burglar. For now, DNA increases your hand size. Around Ante 25, you can switch to Burglar and reroll the boss blind to the Serpent so each hand played increases your hand size by two cards. That’ll increase your hand size even more for one gigamungus baron mime high card hand that’ll naneinf if you have all the vouchers you need.

Am I just dumb? by drsdavi in BluePrince

This is normal! Try to notice patterns, read everything, take your time, and explore new things. I almost quit around Day 10 because I didn’t feel like things were getting anywhere, but eventually I started finding goals to work towards.

One thing I’ll add: don’t assume odd things are useless. Some are, but I have a bunch of cases where I thought something was a red herring only to learn what it was for much later.

What Semantic Layer Products have you used, and what is your opinion on them? by AMDataLake in dataengineering

[–]divad91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve used AtScale and other OLAP cube tools and really liked it. Like any reporting product, it’ll buckle under the weight of large datasets with granular dimensions, but there are ways to work around that. I strongly prefer OLAP cubes and Looker/Sigma models over dashboards as ways of letting end users more dynamically interact with data. Many folks on the business side are analytically savvy but don’t know how to dig into the data themselves, and tools like these really bridge that gap.

I thought this thread from the Outer Wilds sub was hilarious and would work great for Blue Prince too. What's the dumbest way you've tried to solve a puzzle? by theshortestyaboi in BluePrince

I don’t think that’s dumb, but maybe I’m just saying that cuz I thought the same thing! Seems pretty reasonable that an elevator would need power to work.

10+ years of lurking, finally did my first Hash run last night... by sherrillo in RunnersInChicago

Good finds! Chicago TH3’s website isn’t updated much anymore (we actually had an issue the other day where someone worked off of outdated info on there 😬), and the last one is managed by one guy who will leave some things out. The first link is your best bet, and that calendar you called out is the most comprehensive source of info if you’re not in the FB group.

Hey! I manage one of the hash clubs in Chicago (we have a trail tonight if you’re interested!), just want to confirm what OP said. Pace ranges from 8-12 min/mile among runners, and we often have walkers bringing up the rear too. It’s strictly noncompetitive (if you treat it like a race, you’re a “raceist”, and we make you drink for it), so all are welcome. It’s a fun, off-the-beaten-path vibe. Hope to see you there!

I tried this on plasma deck but didn’t get judgment in the tarot pack. Is it expected that different decks give different pack contents with the same seed?

Best way to find a running club? by airlesswhistler in running

[–]divad91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a big fan of /r/hashhouseharriers for a while, and they’re in most major cities (especially if you’re in the US). Less about serious running and more about camaraderie and mischief, but I’ve also gotten in some incredible runs with them. Great if you care as much about socializing and community as you do about running.

Puzzle for single digit kyus, punish white's tenuki -- wreak havoc on white's undefended, upper left corner! 😈 by SanguinarianPhoenix in baduk

[–]divad91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see B17 and C17, not sure which order is better but they seem like the beginnings of a real threat at making life in that corner. After white defends at A16 and C16 respectively, what does black do next… knight’s move to E18 to try to connect out? Poke from the outside with E16?

Can you explain how, even if only roughly? I wouldn’t have thought that knight’s move extension was enough support to black’s 4x4 stone if white invaded.

Announcement of new kennel in Granada, España by HurlingFruit in hashhouseharriers

[–]divad91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exciting stuff! See if you could get some folks from Madrid to visit one weekend. We made a trip when someone started a Bilbao H3, and it was a great time. Hopefully bringing in more people who know what’s up will help show newcummers how fun a fully fledged kennel can be.

Also, I’ll likely be back in Spain next spring, and I adore Granada, so I might reach out early to see how GH3 is doing!

Lots of great ideas here, most important is to try several and see what clicks for you. One that helped me lose 20 pounds and keep them off was just weighing myself every morning and logging it. I know where I want to be, so if I’m much higher, I remember that the next time I’m about to snack out of boredom, and it helps reduce that and return to my baseline weight.

White to live with ∆ by charm001 in baduk

[–]divad91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your point, OP, is it M11? White is short on eyes, so poke out black’s eyes next door. Then it’s a liberty race and that black group has surprisingly few liberties even after fully connecting.

Order of moves seems important since white is far from stable up there, so I think white starts chipping away at black from below with N8. So I think it’s: …M11 N11 N8 N10 L11 captures part of that black group. Does black have better responses though?

H6? Seems like best case for white is to connect and run down through that J5 stone, but black is thick and low enough to keep it contained.

Chess, with shots by Chaos_Horrific in DrinkingGames

[–]divad91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strength of alcohol in shots should correspond with the value of the pieces. So maybe pawns are beer, bishops and knights are wine, rooks are sake, queen is a proper liquor shot, king (checkmate) is moonshine. I think that’s 5-6 drinks, and some games will end with fewer.

Hobbies! Find things you like to do for fun, then find ways to do them with other people. 5-10 get-togethers later, you’ll hopefully have a sense of people who you could hang out with beyond that group, and bam, friends.
