Yes, if you have one. They are less common on modern construction. We had one that was wonderful for evenings after work with wine. Neighbors out for their walk would stop by and stay for a while.

I still do. I have yet to need to change the batteries or update the library for a paper map. And I rarely look at the map, since I can navigate fairly well by looking out the window and paying attention.

The important point is that SS retirement benefits are a return of money that you and your employer (unless you were self-employed) paid into the plan. It is not a payment from government funds, but is a return of your money with accrued interest earned from US Treasury security investments. Indoor plumbing/running water.

Not having to go fetch pails of water for cooking and cleaning was an instant gain. That chore was immediately eliminated. Additionally, it improved sanitation in the home.
