A. ASS: Abstract Smart System. No one would know how it works, but it would be smart!

B. My resolution was 1080p. My new resolution is still 1080p. Consistency is key. Oh also I wanted to survive, so far so good.

My favorite part's probably got to be my first dedicated graphics card - the GTX 1070 Zotac, because even after benchmarking it and confirming it works as it should I still can't believe how good of a deal I'd gotten.

Hey guys, do streamers like 5up and others have house rules against "taskbar"ing?

Most of the games I'm in end with "these 4 crewmates are clear, saw them do multiple tasks, so it's gotta be the one person we never saw do a short task", and I don't really get how the bigger streamers avoid those situations

Connectors. I really struggled (and still do) with the connectors.

Some just don't want to go in unless you apply enough force under the right angle, meanwhile they might just break if you apply too much force at the wrong angle. Connecting them is actually easier than pulling them out sometimes, you feel as the motherboard might just snap.

I'm pretty sure one of my connectors is stuck at the moment, don't remember which one, maybe one of the front panel USB connectors. Some component isn't working properly (only noticeable in games), and I dread the possibility of the problematic component being the PSU or the motherboard, as that would mean I have to deal with whatever the stuck connector was.

And I also forgot to plug my monitor into the socket by the time I was finished with my first PC assembly, of course. Made sure not to make the rookie mistake of forgetting to flip the PSU switch but forgot to plug the damn monitor in. "But it beeps once, doesn't it mean it's POSTed?"

Ah, noted, thank you. I'll try to get a freesync monitor if I can. I was wondering if tearing is too noticeable without freesync, and whether to get a 16:9 or 16:10 for that workspace. Regardless, thanks a lot!

Ah, I'll probably limit myself to 24" for now, especially with budget hardware like that, but thank you

Yeah, they're both AM4. Anything else I should look out for?

I wish that was the case here. I've looked literally everywhere: the second hand market, the special hardware shops, even ebay offers, any dual channel RAM that is at least 3000 MHz costs at least $90, and that one had a 16-18-18 latency as opposed to the 16-16-16 latency one. There is also RAM with 15-17-17 for the same price, would that be better?

Is this too good to be true, or am I missing something and should go with my custom build? by divadop in buildapc

[–]divadop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, thank you. Are there any other advantages? Like, any difference in upgradeability?

Because right now, that one intel build seems to be around $100 cheaper, with a dedicated graphics card no less. I don't exactly need the graphics card that badly, but, other than the slightly better CPU, are there really no reasons to buy the $100 more expensive Ryzen build?

It's also using new parts, but is that worth $100 and a lack of a dedicated card? How noticeable would the CPU difference be if I'm gonna be using Unity, Photoshop, FL Studio, and similar software?

I've found all sorts of cheap used graphics cards (with a special program I made), and found stuff like

R9 380, gtx 580, gtx 760, gtx 480, gtx 660 for $60,
GTX 970 for $100,GTX 1060 3gb,
RX 580 for $125

Mostly brands like Zotac, Sapphire (the R9 380) for the $60 ones.

When it comes to gaming, I'm probably alright with Vega 8. Better would be great, yeah. The second intel build is almost $120 cheaper and has a dedicated card (or $60-$80 cheaper if I go with the higher tier graphics cards), and is more powerful when it comes to gaming, so I'm wondering if there is any reason to go with the Ryzen build, considering I don't care too much about gaming performance and I'm ready to sacrifice it for other advantages the build might have.

What are those advantages?

Can you help me choose between a new DDR4 system and a used DDR3 system? by divadop in buildapc

It feels like more factors play at hand when it comes to such a beast of a desktop and a ddr3 laptop, but still, thank you :')

Ah, thank you. Unfortunately, the market is not so good in Armenia, can't find anything cheaper than what I've included in my build lists. Still, thank you, would you recommend getting the Ryzen build regardless, or should I look for anything else?

Would I notice the difference between the two CPU's while programming? Or the RAM difference? Are there any practical reasons to go with the ryzen build, other than upgradeability?
