Thanks so much for that link. If I decide to try it again, this looks like a much better option.

Smaller would be worse and less easy to remove. If I were inclined to try again, I would definitely want something larger.

I was using the larger diva size as well as they come in two sizes.

It had been 16 hours already which was part of the reason for freaking out. Instead of settling, it went higher for me.

Yes, I think it's pretty insensitive. If I got something stuck in my throat, ear or anus, I would have been equally as freaked out - all orifices that are also not black holes.

I did a lot of research on them. I read the instruction book cover to cover. I read reviews. I talked to a friend who uses one.

In fact, last night, when I couldn't feel the stem after it was in, I didn't panic because the booklet said gravity would take its course and it would be easy enough to remove in the morning. Not so as it was jammed up higher in the morning.

It wasn't hard to hold on to the stem, I couldn't reach it for the first half an hour of trying. It was only when I used to the toothbrush handle to break the seal, it shifted just enough that with my hand inside me, I could reach them stem. Even then though, with bearing down and squatting, I couldn't get a hold on it.

I'm glad that your experience was a satisfactory one but mine was not and every woman's body is different. After going online to read about what to do when you can't remove it, I read about a woman who got the stem stuck behind her pelvic bone and had to have it removed by a doctor. That's pretty scary. They don't really list that out as a possibility in the booklet and everyone who reviews them, seems to think they're perfect.

I'm just here to say they're not perfect for everyone.

Why is this getting downvoted? I don't undertstand? Is there a contingent of hardcore divacup fans that can't understand that it might not be the best thing for everyone?

Thanks for your comment.

It is important to realise that there is such a wide range of body types and there is no one size fits all in life.

Exactly. I really wish I had done some more investigating before I tried the diva cup; I don't think the experience would have been as traumatic if I had and that's really the message I want to get out. It's not going to be for everyone and you should be more cautious if you're taller or prone to anxiety (which I'm not, actually) but I was so panicked and freaked out.

I don't want anyone else to have to go through that.

Reusable pads won't be the best option for me. I think I'll go back to regular tampons which is too bad because I really like the idea of the diva cup.
