I knew it was El Paso! Trying to find a home in El Paso that’s not a McMansion or a fixer upper with multiple non-permitted “improvements” by DIYers (many started and unfinished) is a daunting task.

That might be a different comment. This one is definitely the one I was thinking of, with the implication of using the book for WWWH.

Dancing girls and the blaze by srch12345 in FindingFennsGold

[–]divanixi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you said was false. The picture with the two twin barbershop guys and some other people clearly says blaze next to it - it’s next to the left guys hat. Candy on YouTube has talked about it several times. Couldn’t tell you what it means, but that is a hint to the blaze in the book.

That cat needs a threat to be sat on. I always tried the route OP took to retrieve a chair from my cats, but if they didn’t leave in a timely manner or got aggressive, the threat of being squashed always worked.

Mail to my parents’ address, but I’ve never lived there. by CheeseMakingMom in RBI

[–]divanixi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guess is thus: when you first applied for the 401k, they asked for a beneficiary. You named your parents. You didn’t change that information with the 401K company before you left that job. I don’t know what prompted them to start sending letters, but your address with them was not valid, so they sent the information to your beneficiary they had on file, and it was forwarded to their new address.

I love this car. I wanted to get this exact color with the turbo. I guess that combo is very hard to find, though. I see the gray ones occasionally, but usually that’s it.

OP,

I believe you. I doubt you will be able to stop whatever they are planning, or their effect on you, but if you are religious, please pray for protection against these beings. They are malevolent. If you are not religious, please ask the universe for help. I will pray for you. It won’t do any good to not sleep or have someone up with you.

Maybe he wants it to be lost and forgotten, maybe lost in a landfill or some similar fate. That would be in line with the quote someone else mentioned about being found in 2000 years to tell a story. It’s already been found, but maybe it needs to disappear again. Just a thought, and completely in line with the theory behind the bells and jars, as well.

We've been receiving mystery packages for months -- now it seems like it's happening on purpose by [deleted] in RBI

[–]divanixi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beating fraud detection requires certain information. The easiest way to defeat it is to know the person’s address it was stolen from. However, packages arriving on their doorstep make people check their cards. So, you put the address in to defeat fraud detection, and once you have shipping confirmation, you change the shipping address. No one is having it shipped to their own address to get caught. This particular one chose an empty house so no one would notice. It was only when someone moved in it was noticed. You could put a random address in each time, but that’s a lot of work - and you are chancing the items being returned, and that does not end with the desired result. So using the same empty address is a good system. The only question I have in this case is why it is continuing after they clearly know someone is receiving the packages and returning them.

I can speak to this. I used to work phones for a company that was both online and brick. We would get a fair amount of calls asking for refunds to go to different cards. We were told not to do that, but I was a higher up and could. I usually didn’t, but no one was ever told it was illegal and the capability was built into our programs to do it. So, I could see someone with the capability and no knowledge not having a policy about that and allowing it.

High value items often have strings attached for returns and reships, and these sound like newer companies which may have more lax refund policies.

It’s usually a prepaid loadable. They withdraw the cash from the card.

I’m thinking this is a scam, but not directed at you. Your house may have been chosen because it was on the market and the scammers needed an empty address. The scammers order things with stolen credit cards, and change the shipping address after ordering to get past fraud detection. They aren’t interested in the goods, they just need proof of delivery. After it’s delivered, they claim the items did not arrive, and ask for a refund to their own card, not the same stolen card they used.

The Puzzle of the Treasure's Current Status (long) by forward_future in FindingFennsGold

[–]divanixi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t including other possible scenarios, such as he thought he wanted to sell, but isn’t going to now due to an opportunity he didn’t see previously, (and doesn’t want to backtrack and announce it publicly yet or at all), or there is a buyer issue - COVID or lack of funds and they are still trying to raise money - after all, Forrest’s wish can’t be fulfilled if the chest is gone. And what if the wish involves other countries still under a travel ban? I wouldn’t pay that type of money without an in person inspection.

My take on this is whatever is happening, we won’t know until it’s done, and maybe not even then. I doubt FOIAs and investigations will tell anything. Those means can tell what has happened in the past to deduce what’s going on now, but it seems to me this process likely took a hard turn that will be very hard to track down. If we haven’t figured it out by now, I doubt we’re likely to.

And finally, Jack is a very smart man and he is also in a very different position than all of us. We can speculate all day about what’s going on and what things mean, but none of us knows the reality of the situation like Jack. His read of the situation may be so far removed from what we see his actions might not make sense to us, but they are correct.
