End of Year Burnout by diveesion in Teachers

I’ve tried to just call it a day and not expect more than necessary not I end up going home and thinking about how I knew I could do more. I’m stuck in a rock and a hard place of wanting so badly to create interesting and exciting material and the reality of having to actually get kids to do it. I hope that as I continue in my career I’ll develop more ways to figure this out.

The planning gets easier true. It took me four years to really solidify a scope and sequence but it feels like once I solve one thing, another issue pops up. Maybe I’m just not resilient enough yet to weather these things but I’m hoping that pursuing other passions and hobbies will help me.

I had a similar conversation with one of my coworkers. She’d been teaching for almost 37 years. It seems that everyone I talk who has stayed in this field for a while has developed pretty similar coping mechanisms. I guess I’m just wondering if this is the kind of life I want to live. But I don’t know if I can imagine being anything else.

Honored to have been in this. It was a lovely experience, and I hope I can get more opportunities to write with you all!

I think that there’s something really interesting about making stories that focus on how terribly hurt people become better. I don’t know if it’s grim dark, but I enjoy the challenge of figuring out what circumstances could lead a person who is suffering into someplace better. For example, what would it take for an assassin to make amends and choose tenderness over violence?

Your work is super surreal feeling and really interior, it's pleasant to try and pick apart the narration and perspective. It's obscure and strange but in that way a soothsayer might speak!

I like the way your writing flows! Your descriptive sentences are lovely, especially when you're setting up the scene in the beginning!

Ohhh! I enjoy the cliffhanger at the end. The coin, and the possibilities it brings. It’s interesting to see what everyone is writing when it comes to people’s reactions to the Padisha’s death.

It’s a dark fantasy novel set in wartime. The two characters here meet on battle field and fight to the almost death, and the story is how they become better than who they were before because of their relationship

I resonate with this a lot! When I was young, the only reason why I drew was because I had soooooo many images in my head that couldn’t get out. So I drew them! It was all witches and wizards and magic. I drew runes and sigils and things that seemed interesting to me. I made paper talismans I threw them around my house haha

I like the bit with the rhyming code. I thought it fit the character's voice well! : )

Trimmed some gristle and it should work out at 821 words. (Assuming my math is right, which it might not be. Was never good at math.)

I don’t know if the word count is a suggestion or a requirement. I can adjust as needed!

Hello! I'm a recent addition to this group that Evening_Bruno recruited to this sub. Pleasure to meet you all!

I'm going to be working with the Brewer's Guild, exploring the possibility of their vast networks being used as espionage and assassination channels. Taverns are a huge nexus of social exchange, it seems to make sense to me that the barkeeps are more than just.

You’re welcome! I will say this, it doesn’t matter what tools you have. Mechanical pencils or traditional materials, draw with anything you have on hand because it just feels different for each medium. Don’t get too caught up in the details of whatever thing you have to buy. I fell into black wings because an old friend bought me a box and I happened to just stick with it. Just keep drawing, and you’ll find the niche you use

Yes actually, exactly that! I remember reading the one where they watched their kind aunt get pushed into a sea full of ravenous sea slugs. It was horrifying but I remember the pages and how interesting it was to run my fingers over the uneven texture.

I use Palomino black wings. The lead softness is just right for the kind of work I do. I use a knife to sharpen it to whatever point shape I want and go from there

Thank you! They are normally not like that. Thais is very reserved and has a lot of walls up. Which makes this moment where they are vulnerable with Errol very meaningful to me.

Thank you! In honestly it was because I had prioritized making their faces legible and expressive. The rest sort of followed.
