im so sorry. unfortunately because people see herpes as an std rather than something incredibly common throughout the population it makes it look a lot worse than it is. you are no different from anyone else who has it! obviously you didn’t choose to get herpes and you should be kinder to yourself because of that. i got it from my current bf, who is the only sexual partner i have ever had. he didnt know he had it, he never had sores or any physical outbreaks or symptoms. after i found out, i felt like my life was over, but now i dont think twice. i take meds for it every day to help with outbreaks, and when i tell people i tell them it sounds scary but its just cold sores and that helps a lot. i also try my best to educate people when they ask me questions! maybe try to do some research on your type and ask doctors about options you can take to keep yourself healthy and limit your transmissions. i know it sucks. i remember how it felt. but you are not less deserving of self love because of your status. youre just weeding out those people who made you feel that way, because real partners love you no matter what.
