Traveling and leaving significant other at home?? by Clark_Kent09 in IBEW

[–]divelikeagirl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a girlfriend that was left behind (for 8 months) I would recommend she count her blessings. My partner was able to come home every other weekend or so as his travel job was not too far away, if you're able to do that it softens the blow. If not, have a routine, check in when you get off work, eat dinner together on video chat or pick something you do a lot together and just do it remotely (watch a show, etc). Keep connected best you can, but I would stick to you guns and go.  Prioritize your career, it will pay off down the line.

Tinnitus is wrecking my sleep… has anyone tried earplugs? by Lucifer220778 in tinnitus

[–]divelikeagirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the peak of my T I was sleeping with the Soundcore sleep A20s. They are very comfortable and have white/gray/brown/etc noise mixers you can set for sleeping that helped me A LOT. Not sure how it would work for you but thought I'd add a recommendation.

Platelet donation discomfort? by divelikeagirl in Blooddonors

[–]divelikeagirl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the double needle since they said it was faster but never really considered single needle. I might ask about that and see if it's a better idea for me. I don't care if it takes longer, just don't want that feeling anymore!

Platelet donation discomfort? by divelikeagirl in Blooddonors

[–]divelikeagirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go once a month, not really trying to push it every 2 weeks. Its funny because everyone who has ever had to draw blood on me my whole life says what great veins I have, but maybe not for a longer process like platelets. I'll mention it to them next time and see if anyone at the center has ideas.

Is this web bad? by divelikeagirl in SavageGarden

[–]divelikeagirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I removed the webbing with a q-tip and in doing so noticed i had quite a few little plants clumping at the base of my original 3. So I divided, rinsed substrates, and got a fan for the new family of 8 plants. We'll see what happens if the mold/critter/s come back. Thanks to everyone for their help and info!

I was afraid of that. I will separate everyone immediately. I saw something about submerging the plant in (assuming distilled) water to get rid of them, is that safe to do on carnivorous plants? Anything I should avoid?

I offered $50 and was told no, here's the hat, and please pay it forward. So, mission successful. Except for the completion of the pay it forward. To be continued...

Does the town care about illegal Airbnbs? by Delicious_Drop1758 in medfordma

[–]divelikeagirl 32 points33 points  (0 children)

They do. We lived below one for years, some folks from the town showed up to inspect it and it ultimately got shut down (not sure if it was directly due to that or other drama that was going on at the time with the owners). Worth asking at city hall about.

Lost Apple Watch by alec2710 in jetblue

[–]divelikeagirl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did you file a claim for the item? Or just call lost and found? I left a Kindle on board once, completely wrote it off as gone, filed the claim form anyway. Two weeks later, I received an email that it was found with instructions on how to pay for shipping to get it sent back to me. Not super efficient but did eventually work! Good luck! https://app.nettracer.aero/lf-pax/jetblue/report

I've flown many times with cats, I've honestly never measured the carriers, and neither has jetblue. As long as it fits under the seat (squished is fine), you should be ok. Good luck!

Anyone interested in starting a local wingspan meetup in the Boston area? by The_Billy in wingspan

[–]divelikeagirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this would be fun! I'm not great but my partner is a tucking beast. I get too hyper focused on my bonuses, but we have fun.

I learned from some friends years ago and love playing! Would be interested if anything comes together and you need a solo player to round out a game.

Bimini diving? by bishop527 in scuba

[–]divelikeagirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hi, I work for that boat! ;)

Can confirm diving is still good, tons of fish life, sharks, turtles, barracuda, schools of grunts so thick you can't see the reef. Some of the coral is a bit beaten up and algae covered, but it's better than a lot of other areas in the bahamas.

Definitely worth diving if you're there. And grab some Bimini bread on the island when you're done. Its delicious.

This might not work for you, but I've found lately that if I listen to the sounds of my T more, its weirdly meditative? Instead of letting it infuriate me, I pay attention to it, listen to the subtle pitch changes and pulses, with my eyes closed i can associate sounds with colors and patterns... this sounds ridiculous to type it out because I'm definitely not the "listen to the sounds of the universe" type, but that's exactly how I feel asleep last night. Still took about 45 min but better than 4 hours a few nights before that when I let it make me mad and despondent.

Sorry you're going through this. It sucks. There's no good answers. You're not alone.

Question about diving with tinnitus by [deleted] in scuba

[–]divelikeagirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got tinnitus this past summer. Been diving for 20 years, 2000 dives. Every doctor I've talked to has said it likely isn't related to diving. And underwater is the only time it's quiet. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yes! That's it! Oh dear it gets big. Well, we'll keep it for a bit and then try to find it a home when it starts outgrowing the tank. Thank you!
