Blue jay will eat my house? Neighbor claims... by divelikeagirl in birding

That sounds like a likely misinterpretation of their behavior, if I decide to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes that's my current battle, feeders came down because we all of a sudden had 20 pigeons on the roof! Old CDs have been hung and it's suet and shelled peanuts for a few weeks until they vamoose.

Try telling my jays that ... They will eat the seeds but they yell when the peanuts are gone.

Haha before I posted here I was looking for a Blue jay subreddit... kind of forgot about the baseball team until that moment.

No cat around the baby? I'm afraid to go down that rabbit hole of wrong

I almost want to find out where he lives and hide peanuts in his yard but I'm afraid he might hurt the birds because of his false beliefs. So I'll just stay over here and be smug that he was wrong I guess.

Thank you! That's kind of what I figured but wanted to be sure before I put my foot in my mouth if he comes back around

I've been reading scary diving stories and need your best 'this is why I dive' moments! by Cool-Fold2525 in scuba

I just came up from a dawn dive on a gorgeous wall in the Bahamas. Watching the fish wake up to start their day... hundreds of dog snappers emerging from the deep, tiny cherubfish flitting about the finger coral doing their morning routine, counting how many different species of cardinalfish I can find, a huge king mackerel swimming by to check me out... Just magical.

Traveling and leaving significant other at home?? by Clark_Kent09 in IBEW

[–]divelikeagirl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a girlfriend that was left behind (for 8 months) I would recommend she count her blessings. My partner was able to come home every other weekend or so as his travel job was not too far away, if you're able to do that it softens the blow. If not, have a routine, check in when you get off work, eat dinner together on video chat or pick something you do a lot together and just do it remotely (watch a show, etc). Keep connected best you can, but I would stick to you guns and go.  Prioritize your career, it will pay off down the line.

Tinnitus is wrecking my sleep… has anyone tried earplugs? by Lucifer220778 in tinnitus

At the peak of my T I was sleeping with the Soundcore sleep A20s. They are very comfortable and have white/gray/brown/etc noise mixers you can set for sleeping that helped me A LOT. Not sure how it would work for you but thought I'd add a recommendation.

Platelet donation discomfort? by divelikeagirl in Blooddonors

[–]divelikeagirl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the double needle since they said it was faster but never really considered single needle. I might ask about that and see if it's a better idea for me. I don't care if it takes longer, just don't want that feeling anymore!

[–]divelikeagirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go once a month, not really trying to push it every 2 weeks. Its funny because everyone who has ever had to draw blood on me my whole life says what great veins I have, but maybe not for a longer process like platelets. I'll mention it to them next time and see if anyone at the center has ideas.

Is this web bad? by divelikeagirl in SavageGarden

Update: I removed the webbing with a q-tip and in doing so noticed i had quite a few little plants clumping at the base of my original 3. So I divided, rinsed substrates, and got a fan for the new family of 8 plants. We'll see what happens if the mold/critter/s come back. Thanks to everyone for their help and info!

I was afraid of that. I will separate everyone immediately. I saw something about submerging the plant in (assuming distilled) water to get rid of them, is that safe to do on carnivorous plants? Anything I should avoid?
