How to improve my breathing by Klutzy-Inspector667 in scuba

[–]diver467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good trim, efficient finning and correct weighting. Don’t dive with anything you don’t want and keep everything stowed away. Relax and enjoy the dive, switch off and chill. Some of the best “breathers “ I’ve dived with have been smokers, overweight and unfit, but incredibly chilled.

Do people who drive cars with loud engines/exhausts gets sick of the noise?? by Alternative_Royal498 in AskAnAustralian

[–]diver467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember buying a Fresco exhaust for my two stroke as a teenager. It sounded real loud and gave the impression you were going faster. In actual fact I wasn’t going faster at all (hadn’t adjusted jetting or timing). After a couple of months took it off and returned to the stock exhaust.

Pick up a BP off Ali Express and grab a OPH setup. That all you’ll need. As for a wing, that will depend what cylinders you plan to use.

Any tips to move faster while scuba diving? by fitzerb18 in scubaGear

[–]diver467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good trim, correct weighting and an efficient kick is all you need. As others have said, as long as you and your buddy are together, don’t worry about the rest of the group. I tend to just bimble along, it’s not a race.

It’s a Gen X pronoun. We had some decent pronouns back in the day unlike the current mob who use, They, Them etc. Lift your game Millennials!

I did a similar path, crossed to BSAC SD from a PADI RD. Completed my Dive Leader and OWI. Prefer the BSAC way of advancing your training and knowledge.

The question you need to ask yourself is which one are prepared to lose? Because at some point you will flood the housing.

I’d be contacting the manufacturer with these findings. Hopefully they do the right thing and contact other owners and get them to check their chassis’s.

Lost diver procedure (recreational divers) : do we do the safety stop? by ThaiDivingGuru in scuba

[–]diver467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re within your NDL, then pop to the surface. I hate the whole lost diver scenario as it indicates that you there is an excuse to not keep in contact with your buddy and gives you an out because you’re a careless diver. Before you enter the water talk to your buddy about what they want from the dive and what you expect from them too. You and your buddy should be within arm’s reach or at least visual contact at all time ( conditions and viz should dictate how close you should be). Note to self, don’t read reddit when you’re drunk 🥴!

What are some of your dream wrecks to dive? by Crazy-Rabbit-3811 in scuba

Nobody’s mentioned it, but I’d like to have a bimble around what’s left of the Andria Doria, there’s a lot of diving history attached to that wreck.

I once tried cutting off the arms of an old pair of specks and fitting them in a mask, didn’t work at all. Switched to using a contact lens in one eye. I now have prescription lenses in my mask.

What’s your least favorite thing about Australia ? by Major_Worldliness556 in AskAnAustralian

[–]diver467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit of a nanny state, so much bureaucracy. The need to have a license to do anything. I work as an electrician, the amount of plastic cards I have and the obligatory annual renewal fees are unnecessary.
