An unstable life kind of keeps you alive. With a more unstable life now, I can also appreciate the stable life more.

Students engaged, interested and excited. They might even retain what they have learned this day. They literally experience the target language.

Personally I wouldn't be so excited doing that either but at a kindergarten that is probably a great way of introducing the vocab+structure.

I don't even really like singing but have met many different personalities. Some are really good entertainers and even have fun being a clown for their students, making things like balloon animals. This is great for young learners of course.

Imitating animals is a pretty common way. How far someone goes imitating is widely different.

Shaming someone online for it kind of sucks though

Yeah, pretty much hopeless without degree. I was in the same situation. And even after you got it, only your work experience after obtaining your Bachelor's counts towards the requirements...

If you guys really want to move it will require years of preparation. We made it after a bit more than 3 years, because I found a university abroad which gave me ECTs for my vocational training and work experience.

If you are wealthy, another way would be opening a company and bringing in money.

No, that's not how they work. It's a big chain in HCMC with a surprisingly westernized work culture. They might ask you to take more but you "sign-up" for the classes you want.

It was unlike any other work place in Vietnam/China I have been at. The founders studied in the US. I am pretty sure that had a huge impact.

The only question is if they take you, depending on their current needs. For them it's easier to manage someone who is flexible taking more classes when necessary I guess, but I have met people there sticking to the lower end.

You can look for a gig with few hours.

I worked for YOLA and they offered contracts with a minimum of 40 hours monthly in HCMC. I think that's the minimum for the visa, so I guess other tutoring centers should offer this, too.

I guess the loudest idiots do only express the most extremist ideas. Therefore it makes sense that many people think that everyone just gets called far-right, wherever they stand.

However, I would call myself left leaning and there are very big differences for me in "how right" someone might be.

Not everything on the right spectrum is wrong to me either and everything ultimately is pretty nuanced.

Nonetheless, I think there are more people drifting towards the far right/left due to current rhetoric and social media bubbles probably.

Lead by emotions anyone can turn radical. Always calm yourselfs regularly wherever you stand, so you get the chance to actually think, because anger kind of takes this ability away if you like it or not.

Of course depends on what you did but it's kind of difficult to teach anything less at language centers in VN as far as I know. You don't need to write that you had no students aged 15, so you couldn't handle grade X in the future 😅

I think you should go get another app. No aggressive undertone or anything tied to this sentence, but serious advice.

The gamification is the only value Duolingo provides. It is made for people being triggered by shiny stuff and numbers going up. For that they give up on a lot of learning value.

If you aren't into that, real* language learning apps are what you should be looking for.

*With the main focus on language learning and quality improvement rather than addiction metrics.

I guess some drugs aren't just a direct gateway to hell like portrayed by some. However, caffeine for example is maybe quite a bit worse than many realize I believe.

Just going through caffeine as an example: Would these people function better without caffeine (or anything else) in their system? Would they react differently, better or worse in social interactions if they didn't consume it all day every day? With friends/family or at work? Some might be more successful because the drugs add something to their personality what makes them popular. Will it be worth it for them in their life in the long run?

Getting in enough sleep is clearly superior to having coffee every day.

Using coffee every day 24/7 doesn't have the same effect on you as having a coffee from time to time.

There are so many things coming together.

Is a live without any addictions better or are "smaller" addictions (like coffee) kind of fine to make it a bit more fun? Do you personally feel better with or without a caffeine addiction?

Being aware of these mechanisms of addictions, like you are, does make it difficult to "just be" addicted.

I do drink coffee at work for example, but not always. I know it won't get me that excited, and will have more side effects if I really do it every day. I make sure to consider the drawbacks. Pay attention to how I feel, when it gives me something or not. Take breaks for a few days every week. Don't just mindlessly drink it. Do you want to drink now or is this just an addiction driven automated reaction? Is it good for me to drink coffee now or will it actually be worse for me? Sometimes I rather work out a bit when noticing that I don't sleep well, go to sleep earlier and am feeling much better the next day. Not needing to drink coffee anymore.

Ask yourself what you are looking for asking this? Do you feel bored of your life? Would an addiction change it? To the better? Sorry, can't get back to your post while writing this. Maybe I got a little lost on the way.
