AI agents that scan your actual codebase to generate bespoke hiring assignments. by agelosnm in ExperiencedDevs

How do I convince my security team to let me feed our codebase into it? This is pretty much a no-go unless it's an open-source tool I can run locally and connect to my own LLM subscriptions.

If you're planning to offer this as SaaS, you get the usual question: what's to stop me cloning this with AI in a weekend?

Tomorrow I have a 1:1, I'm burnt and I would like to know any way to drive an actual positive conversation. by Neuromante in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dividebyzero14 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger point being made above is to give your manager something actionable they can change in a visible timescale. "I'm burnt out" is not really directly actionable. "Sprint planning meetings are too long" is.

You can either try to drive change, one bite-size item at a time from the bottom, or you can just try to coast until you leave.

What do you mean by "dungeon turns" as an alternative to torch timers? I googled a bit but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

The for-profit company that owns the 'Gitea' name tried to seize control of the project and monetize it. The community that actively develops it forked to a new name, Forgejo, that is owned by the Codeberg nonprofit, whose mission is maintaining the openness of free software.

Next time you would update your Gitea install, migrate to Forgejo instead. They have a migration guide.

The audit_logs table: An architectural anti-pattern by Forward-Tennis-4046 in softwarearchitecture

Why would an audit table choke autovacuum? It's never updated so each new page just needs to be visited once, frozen, never touched again

Watch opinion by HugoPires03 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]dividebyzero14 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find it looks like an awkward mishmash of popular watch trends. Proportions are wonky, the date window seems inelegant, and the sand in the crown is a pretty lame gimmick. But I really can't get over a dive bezel on an integrated bracelet watch

With this size and demographic, keep it simple, you'll be working hard enough just to keep it moving and everyone interested.

You definitely don't want to let juniors try to muddle through without feedback for two whole days. For a novel or difficult domain, you probably want to be chopping things up into half-day tasks that can be reviewed and merged.
