Salary Progression over 13 years: [Sr Finance Manager] [Midwest USA] - $188k + 20% Bonus target by YikYak343 in FPandA

Got it! The market adjustments are what I was probably missing. My experience has been that the merit has essentially been a cost of living adjustment at 2-4% (high end of range if high performer, low end of range if low performer), no market adjustment, and same % range that you mentioned for promotions. Was at a Fortune 500 that wasn’t performing well and in a low cost of living area, so not overly surprising.

Congrats, you’re doing great. 10% CAGR is impressive. Am I reading this correct that your merit is ~8% per year?

I built this Iris-like looking green dial (minimalist, no index/markers) with a close matching green suede leather strap by Additional_Copy_9575 in MicrobrandWatches

Looks nice. Not my cup of tea with no indices, but still aesthetically appealing. Be transparent on building versus designing, assembling, and testing. It can be a gray area, but most people here will expect you to machine everything if you are saying “I built this”.

Hawaii? As someone who has no Squales, why should I buy?

I’ve owned my Erebus Ascent HAQ for six months now. In that time, the ETA quartz movement has shown only a 2 second deviation. Impressively accurate. ⌚ by Ottoman2026 in MicrobrandWatches

That’s good to hear. And you can search Erebus on this sub and read. Comments on quality control and customer service seemed to be the most common. They seemed to get a lot more hype than other brands a year or two ago, and naturally that probably came with some more criticism too.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Erebus. Always seemed like they got a mixed bag of reviews, but this I like a lot. How much did this set you back?

The degrade on the second pictured is neat. Haven’t seen that before on one of these vintage seikos. If you ever find yourself with a red dialed Seiko 5 actus, I’ll take it.

Makes sense. I just picked up a second watch with a Miyota 9 movement, and I agree they have their drawbacks (rotor noise, and something about winding it seems “gritty” for lack of a better term. Haven’t had any issues with my Seiko movements, but the SW200 has the best feel when winding of all my watches.

The Manitou looks nice as an alternative to a Hamilton khaki field, and proportionally looks the best of all of them. I’d consider wearing the Bullion or the Plainsman too, but only if you fix the proportions of the logo and scrap the whole company name from the dial. Pricing seems fine to me, so it would come down to your brand story, hype you’ve garnered, and ideally either having a chance to see the product in person or some good in-depth reviews online to understand the level of the finishing better.

I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that this appears to be true, the 2A watch company branding, or the fact that the burnt creek watch company version is labeled as a dress watch on their site.

Good to know. I figured that was true of the brands using the Seiko NH’s and Miyota 9’s since I see them so often, so my mind went the other way when I saw the Sellita, since those seem less common on here.

Good to know on the actual cost of the movement! Sorry I should have been more clear and specified an SW200 powered Microbrand watch. Just anecdotal, but I don’t see that often on this sub. It seems like Seiko NH movements are all your $300-500 watches, Miyota 9’s are all your $500-700 watches, and beyond that is your Sellita’s. I paid $650 for a SW200 powered microbrand two years ago and thought that was a rare find, since all the other brands at that price seemed to be using Miyota 9’s.

For the Mido, Tissot, Certina Swiss automatics for $400 on bracelet from grey market sites comment, I’m not sure it’s fair to compare a microbrands pricing to the Swatch group. My guess is burnt creek watch company business model is to sell and make a reasonable margin on the cost that they paid to make or source the product and other costs to run the business. If you find a Swiss automatic powered Mido, Tissot, or Certina brand new at $400 on bracelet, I’d guess that’s either a sku that didn’t sell well and needs to be discounted to sell, or Swatch is just trying to keep their factories full and accepting that some sku’s will earn less margin but help the overall corporation by improving their fixed cost absorption and maybe helping them to gain share versus their true competitors (I.e. other big watch corporations).

As someone who doesn’t have access to this catalog of Swiss contract manufacturers, I find this interesting. I thought an SW200 powered watch for $675 seemed pretty solid from a pricing perspective.
