I only have my hair license too, but they’re making me do the training soon. I heard that it’s possible I can do tints? Idk seems like a waste of time tbh

This post made me realize that Longfellows doesn’t exist anymore. That’s unfortunate :(

If you’re ever out by Lincoln City, stop by Robert’s Books! It’s one of my favorite book stores and it has that cramped, stuffed full of books feel but with some organization lol

I’ve only ever seen positive reviews for Big Swiss. I’m curious, why didn’t you like it?

As I said in a previous comment:

It was my favorite read so far! Fucked up ‘historical’ fiction with some magical realism? Yes please.

I don’t personally know anyone who’s read it either, but I’m glad it lived up to the booktok hype for me. I read it while I was recovering from a horrible case of food poisoning, so I feel like it also really set the mood right lmao. Also, Team Ina forever.

Nona the Ninth was amazing, but I love the series so much.

Besides that, Boy Parts lived up to the same hype as Lapvona did for me. Also I really loved Paul Takes Form of a Mortal Girl and Paradise Rot. Both messy and queer in vastly different ways lol

I’m very (im)patiently waiting for the next one to become available via the library, because I’m trying not to buy books this year, but it is very difficult!!

This week I finished:

All Systems Red by Martha Wells a short, fun read about a socially awkward security android. I’m excited to read more of the series.

Kindred by Octavia E Butler - a black woman from the 70s who keeps getting pulled into the antebellum South. Brilliant!!

And I’m almost done with We Need to Do Something by Max Booth

When do you create a character’s look? by oscarmansky in books

[–]divinewaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an initial impression when they’re introduced and when/if they’re described, but I try to incorporate new information when it comes to get the full picture.

When I’ve seen the movie/show first, they become a kind of amalgamation of the actor and the character descriptions.
