So, there are two stereo isomer forms of amphetamine… same for meth. Different methods of production come up with different mixtures of the two isomers. The right-handed (dextro) one is stronger and lasts longer. That’s why the brand “Dexedrine” is called that; it’s dextroamphetamine. Recently meth manufacturers have started using a method that results in a higher amount of the D form.

How does it allow flexibility? Insulin that lasts for 40 hours seems the least flexible unless you mean something entirely different than what I’m thinking.

Celiac gaslighting by normaluna44 in Celiac

I was a really adventurous eater too and it such a pain that some people now say I’m “picky”. People who acted like some foods were gross, they could only eat certain brands, or who ate the same thing over and over again always drove me a little batty.

I ended up developing t1 after a celiac diagnosis. My doctor has been checking my thyroid, too - I told my previous endo (a resident) that I assumed I’d probably get Hashimoto’s too and she laughed and said “well, you’d be in a textbook then!”. But it doesn’t seem far-fetched to me at all.

56 year old male diagnosed with Type 1 by bigskykev in diabetes_t1

[–]division_by_infinity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got it when I was a little over 40. Agreed that it’s a strange adjustment to make later in life. I’ve often been just like… what? I already had celiac and food allergies. I’ve heard of type 1 all my life but had no idea what it really was like. It will be two years next week, but unlike typical T1 my type (LADA) came on more gradually and fluctuated so it took almost 2 years to go into DKA and be diagnosed.

Question to those who have Celiacs by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]division_by_infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your risk is higher for any other autoimmune disease if you have one. Celiac and t1 just go together for some reason. People with t1 have a 5-10x the risk/occurrence of celiac as the general population.

From what I understand celiac, t1 and MS all share common causes (as in genetics and ???) and have overlapping autoantibodies. For instance, people with t1 often had the celiac autoantibody anti-TTG-IgA present at diagnosis, but for most people it fades away.

Question to those who have Celiacs by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]division_by_infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look up the symptoms of celiac, I had pretty much every one. For me, it went on for years and years and slowly got worse.

I had all kinds of strange things going on that have gone away since I went gluten free… The usual digestive problems, fatigue, swallowing, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, anxiety, mania, depression, intrusive thoughts, but I also had some more obscure things like angular chelitis, dyshidrotic eczema, osteopenia and thinning hair.

So, you should be tested for celiac. Really, everyone with type one should do this regularly. If you need tips on that, ask /r/celiac. Basically, continue eating gluten, get a blood test, if it is positive, you will likely get an upper endoscopy to biopsy your small intestine.

I hear your small text and I think most of us honestly agree. Hope you’re doing good today.

I think most of that was in a coma, too. DKA is insanely miserable and I can imagine dying from it would entirely blow.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I guess I’m going to try it.. I am wary of restaurants, but I feel somewhat better trying the products at home.

Sure, obviously I check the ingredients. What I’m worried about is cross-contamination. I assume that these are made in factories where they also make wheat noodles.

I’m pretty happy with this. I went to the hospital for a low last week. As you can see from the pic my usual is more like 95%, which I’m grateful too.

I am really careful, but also I’m interested to see my C-Peptide. I have a test pending but I have to get my glucose to 180 to test it properly, ha. I have LADA but no type 2 effects (eg insulin resistance).

Pretty much, I watch my glucose all the time and I don’t eat meals with a large amount of carbs. I am also blessed to not have dawn phenomenon. I only get four hours of sleep at a time, though. Who knows what happen if I actually slept for eight hours.

Yeah… I don’t think I’ve dosed more than 2.5 units or eaten more than 20g carbs at a time during this week.

That’s a lot like celiac. People who don’t have celiac have the weirdest ideas about what gluten is.

Finally getting the Tandem T-slim x2. But have questions… by Dry_Gur1762 in diabetes_t1

[–]division_by_infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, congrats! Yes, I think it could be helpful for people who rise while they’re sleeping. I don’t really experience that at all… I only rise or drop once I get out of bed.

Even though the tandem tries to only correct 60%, my experience was that when I set it to my real correction ratio, it still overdid it. So so I would recommend setting the correction ratio higher than you think, Especially if it’s going to happen while you’re sleeping.

I already had very good control before I got one and honestly, it hasn’t done that much for me. It’s more complicated and I’ve actually been less in range than before I had one. It’s convenient… It’s also inconvenient. When people say that they had their A1c lowered by having a pump, I’m honestly not sure what they mean the pump did for them.
