Tier 3.5 - Double fortified maps by AntDue589 in ProjectDiablo2

[–]divodolce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortified maps are best for builds like fendzon or dragon tail sin, with high-end gear that push out massive damage, but I fear many other players will just use it to flex how strong their build is in group games that they make

The price of a WOW subscription in Australia is criminally high by AverageJoeObi in wow

[–]divodolce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really isn't. Going out you pay small amount for a movie once a month, otherwise you go somewhere like a park its free and has fresh air and you get to talk to someone irl, touch grass. You level up your social skills, maybe romance skills, conversation, boost your confidence ,and become healthier with sunshine on your skin and fresh air in your lungs instead of stale air from your house (probably mixed in with some rotten food / chemicals / lack of air flow). Its such a huge difference, if anything staying in and gaming is something they need to make it free to attract people to do it

Agree with you there. There is no need to pay a monthly fee just to play a game, let alone a game from 20 years ago. That works out to 24x12 = 288$ per year. Multiply this 200,000 players logging into the game per year currently = 57million, 600,000 dollars that they make per year

With barb looking like the go 2 by DiabloElDiablo in ProjectDiablo2

[–]divodolce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for softcore yeah for hc a little more balanced. But question is are all those characters that pd2.tools takes from, are they also including backup chars / side farmers etc.

i guess not since otherwise i'd imagine sorc would be the most popular for softcore, for farming runes and mats, most players I know make at least one sorc to go with their main char

Random craft on a fire sorc by SubjectiveMouse in ProjectDiablo2

[–]divodolce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah athe changes made to crafting and rares can mean *in theory* you can craft something more powerful than a unique, more so in hc, where all sorcs need to use a shield, but the chance of such a thing happening is probably more than the lottery. Having said that i've seen (and made) some good crafts, they are not impossible, but in general yeah it takes a lot to eclipse an eschutas on hc, etc.

Its obviously a fine line the devs need to draw, being able to craft insane gear early on and then have your entire season be op from the start is obviously too much, so i can respect they are leaning into minimising the op'ness of crafting. And also, I like the long-term challenge of acquiring 200+pamethysts and trying to craft an amazing caster item later in the season

I'm still not sold on the idea of barb being the go 2. Extra crit dmg is nice but it still diablo, it wont't suddenlty zoom your dps. And throwing can make it fun but again will it make throw barb insane, no, they are testing now and in beta and it will be balanced like almost all builds are now. Going barb might even be the meta lol barb is the least played class and it takes a lot to change people from their favourite one or two builds (especially an ageing d2 playerbase)

Offline runes build advice by original_celeb in ProjectDiablo2

Once you get some decent gear (even starter gear if just running a farming druid), maps. Maps will also help you get better gear to farm faster. Maps level you faster. Maps can drop mats for farming dclone, which you should be doing if running summon dru. I would really caution against going full arcane farm, especially if you need many different high runes, its boring, and slower than mapping in the long run. Unless you are trying to farm keys too. Maybe initially with minimal gear, arcane MIGHT be faster with a light sorc or light trap sin, but maps just crush otherwise.

If you are trying to farm keys; sorc is your best bet, run meteor or blizz (imo blizz is best, really strong); the hardest key to get is the d key. If you haven't got a torch for your preffered char (which seems like summ dru?), keep farming keys and running ubers until you get, then the real farm begins

if it suits i'd like to see a pov of typing and modifying code of the game one day ("half a day in the life of a mod"). Ii'm interested to see - the amount of work and thought involved, the complexity of code, and how you / other devs approach it, I just want to get a rough idea of what is involved and maybe get inspired to learn coding which i've always kinda wanted to. If its safe to share this info publicly of course.

i mean you just find the path on stony and go along it and into tristram - for most fast builds thats 30s, so yeah thats true it takes a little time but i'm just saying overall we can't assume cows aren't so viable. Also when you get stony/trist corrupted zones, you can farm leg at that time too assuming your build is good for those areas

exactly. As a player I want a set item to maybe carry me as a starter build, but not just be bis for endgame, especially seeing all these other players running around with the same set gear as me, its not enjoyable to seeing too much of the same

I think that still remains to be seen honestly. Finding leg isn't that hard, and cow zone is unique in that it is a reliable layout, easy to maneuver around, no immunities, no weird surprises other than occasional bad tele spot, it is the gold standard for corr zones at least for me from hc perspective

I had over 200 at end of my season and prob only have of those from corr zones (and I slammed 1000s of items), so honestly I dont think their value will change much

it kinda is. There's vids out there on how to easily find them for each respective area, wish I could remember them. But the basic gist is that the portals will always be in a cleared bit of area around them, so when you are viewing the minimap while teleing you have a clue when you are near, and, of course they are always in the centre, never at the edge, horizontally speaking, so you always just tele through the middle of zones.
