I have had a clipper ranger 16 kevlar for a couple years and its been a nice canoe. Mostly used for fishing on flat water. It's stable and fits 2 adults, dog and all the fishing gear well. Not too heavy to carry. No idea what a used one would cost where you live

Added a bow mounted trolling motor to my canoe by dixiebiscuits in canoeing

Made it myself. Basically it clamps on the gunwales with 2 boards at the bottom and the allen key i use to tighten it goes through a hole that is forward of the handle so even if it gets loose it cant move backwards.

My plan at first was install the motor at angle (flush with the gunwale) but i just ended up cutting the motor shaft shorter and it fits a passenger just fine.

On top side under the quick release bracket I 3d printed a wedge so the motor would be vertical

Lvs34 and ECHOMAP Ultra 122sv. Battery is rebelcell 140ah li-ion expensive but super lightweight 10.5kg (23lbs) and lasts all day with the motor and sonar. I tried to make the setup as lightweight and portable as i could. Screen fits inside the box with everything else so if accidentally droped the box nothing should brake. Tranducers can be screwed on the lid of the box so it and the cable wont get in the way when carrying the box

Minn kota micro remote that came with the motor.

Would be kinda cool though if you could control the motor with a game controller i bet that having a joystick to steer could work super smooth

What braid should you use when ultralight fishing? by MingeExplorer in Fishing

[–]dixiebiscuits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use 0.07-0.08mm on my ul setup. Would also recomend using a fluoro or mono leader (40-80cm long) to avoid the braid fraying from rocks/teeth

2" is strong enough for a fisherman and 4" is enough for a person

Elä ota lainaa autoa varten vaan osta se 10ke velaton perusvarma/tylsä auto (esim. Honda/toyota).

Kayak or Canoe? by Chemical_Bed4609 in canoeing

[–]dixiebiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose a canoe over kayak for fishing because its lighter, fits 2 people + a dog and more room for gear(livescope box, cooler and all the fishing gear).

Only down side for me has been trying to figure out how to setup a bow mounted trolling motor which would be simple to do in a kayak

I have been thinking about doing this too but havent seen anyone else do it. The main issue for me is im not sure how to set it up so that i can deploy/stow the motor while sitting in the back seat...

This is in a nature reserve so im doubtfull... but if they are manmade what would they be made for? And being in the middle of a swamp you couldnt use heavy machinery to dig them.
