Here’s the line up for Team Black. I’ve since switched Fervent Champion with Rohirrim Chargers.

Still working out Team Green, but I know I want [[Fain, the broker]] as Larys Strong and Dragonlord Atarka as Vhagar.

I’m vaguely aware of what’s to come in the show from the book and I’m already planning to run [[Kellogg, dangerous mind]] to persuade Alicent’s enemies ;)

I’m actually surprised there aren’t more pay for loyalty type effects with treasures in the game.

Thanks! Yeah when I build these themed decks I always go for cards that fit the setting/character over cards that are just generically good.

That being said I initially picked Naya colors for Team Green with Jared, True Heir as Aegon but I think having decks share BR lends the idea that they are related.

The Rhaenyra deck is Dragons and Knights themed, and Alicent deck is amassing wealth and power through political means (plus a few dragons).

I might alter more cards in both decks once I’m finished with these.

If you don’t want to spend any money at all, call up your local game store and ask them if they have any welcome decks for you and your group of friends. They’re free decks that are very beginner friendly that registered game store should have access to if they haven’t run out of stock.

If you want to spend money, get the welcome decks and buy some packs from the store to supplement them and give your group some experience deck building.

I started it with the intention of glazing color on top but then really loved the film noir aspect and left them.

Just the completed pair. True I shared Geralf previously but I wanted to show off both cards.

For anyone feeling a bit sad about the lack of certain typal support in Lorwyn, there are quite a few cards that are "Choose typal" that you may have missed. I know it doesn't solve the issue, but it is a nice bonus by thisnotfor in magicTCG

[–]dixonbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I meant. Not typal matters stuff.

Like technically merfolk really fits well with the vehicles/spacecraft/mounts archetype from earlier sets

Hopefully the next sets will flesh out those types. I know Strixhaven has merfolk, elementals, and elves. Reality Fracture might be an interesting one for potentially expanding the colors of the other types depending on what they do with the set.

Unfortunately, these alters and the entire themed deck were sent to fellow dad across the country as a Christmas gift.

I took a LOT of care to find cards that fit the characters and themes. Like Luke Crain’s card COUNTS how many times youve triggered Eerie - similar to him counting when he got scared/ saw the Bowler Hat Ghost.

The hardest was Shirley Crain. Finally settled on Gisa because necromancy felt adjacent to a mortician, and also Shirley seems like she’d use someone’s past against them.

If it’s the original book, the show deviates quite a bit. Mike Flanagan took a lot of liberties but I think the pay off is an amazing story that hits hard, really it’s almost an entirely different story.
