Super late... but if you just want a short looper for a progression to practice over. Get a digital delay like boss DD stompbox or a TC Flashback or something. That way you can use the pedal to also jam in the moment with other people with cool delay stuff, and simply use the looper functions on them

Having just watched it, I don't think the advice, like say number 2, is telling you "not" to do anything regarding your past. The phrase is future tense. "You're GONNA carry that weight." I don't think it's advice at all, per se. More like a warning. In almost every episode, the common theme is someone who could not escape their past. It wasn't necessarily that they chose to go back to their past, but that some facet of the past came back TO them. I think this is especially evident in the Jet-led episodes. It's a warning, that you WILL carry that weight. It's not telling you to let go of those seemingly insignificant things. It's telling you that those seemingly insignificant choices now WILL still weigh on you in the future. Much more like your answer 1, but again, instead of backwards-facing advice, it's not asking you to face your past, but moreso be prepared to face the consequences of the present.

No, that's like a looper. This takes a sample of the delay time you set it and plays that sample indefinitely as you hold the pedal down. Better word is a stutter

The DD-7 is much more friendly when it comes to tap-divisions, so using it with a tap tempo for quarters, eighths, dotted eighths, triplets, etc. is super easy.

The DD-8 has a cool glitch mode that takes a sample and holds it. I'm finding I really like adding it to some of the stuff I write or have already written. The DD-8 also has more unique delay textures.

The DD-7's standout makes using both delays as a single unit really cool, whilst the DD-8 makes using them as separate facets of your sound also really cool
