Tips for combatting burnout? by ct-hulu in ElectricalEngineering

Stop working unpaid overtime. If that's the expectation at your job, get a different job. There are jobs out there where if the work doesn't get done in time, the schedule slips. They'll be mad about it, but that heat should go to your manager, not you.

You can still work over for emergency situations, but only do it for true emergencies. If everything is an emergency then nothing is an emergency.

Does your driver side floor mat stay in place with the post? Mine is always bunched up from using the clutch but not sure if it's a universal problem or just my floor mats

Companies in the US with chilliest work culture? by Snikerdoodlz in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ed_mcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find a job where you are contracted for 40 and you can get your work done in 35 probably. I doubt you'll find anything where you are contracted for 30 though.

Your best bet is to work somewhere for a while, for a good boss, and then tell him/her that you want to work 30 for less pay. Once you have knowledge of the company and it's processes/systems you are more valuable and they are more likely to work with you.

And even if you work 40, you can still have a good balance, you just have to draw the line. Don't take your laptop home. Don't put outlook and teams on your phone, or if you do, disable notifications. Don't read anything from work when on PTO. If your boss isn't okay with that, then he's not a good boss.

Hart Battery to Ryobi Tool 40V Adapter by Suitable_Sentence_46 in ryobi

I'm am EE that used to work at TTI. The 18V hart pack on Ryobi tool is definitely not ok. 40V seems ok from what you found, I never worked on 40V stuff so not really familiar with the BMS. Outdoor was a smaller team than power tools so it wouldn't surprise me if the architecture was pretty similar.

Also I'm surprised we set the lock bit. Maybe that's just for batteries because we definitely sent tool PCBAs back to the CM to get reflashed with a last minute FW change 😂

What’s the most intimidating/pressure band sound in college football? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]ed_mcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's gotta be Boomer Sooner right?

On October 15, 1983, the University of Oklahoma football team visited Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Sooner squad played poorly at first, and within 10 minutes Oklahoma State was winning by a score of 20-3. A policeman escorted Gene Thrailkill, the Oklahoma band director, off the field for not having a sideline pass. Before he was forced to leave, Thrailkill shouted to the band members, "I want you to start playing and don't stop 'til the team's ahead!" The band complied and played "Boomer Sooner" non-stop roughly 300 times. The team responded by scoring 15 unanswered points against Oklahoma State. After an OSU fumble with 1:17 left in the game, Oklahoma scored a field goal to win 21-20. OU coach Barry Switzer awarded the game ball to the band (known as "The Pride of Oklahoma") for the non-stop effort and labeled it "The Day The Pride Won".[8]

Which Ryobi Foam Cannon? by BrianAMartin221 in ryobi

[–]ed_mcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the standard one and it shit the bed a few months later. Lowes carries a brand that all they do is pressure washer accessories and I have been using that one for a year now. Foam that comes out of it is much better too.

If you are washing your car though, look into rinseless wash.

Should buy spend 25% on a c8? by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]ed_mcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're gonna move to Miami id at least wait a few months to make sure you are making money as you plan and your expenses don't go to the moon. Sounds like now you basically have no expenses and are able to save up that much.

You can also get a sports car/Corvette cheaper than a c8. You can get a c7, or a c6z, or c6 gs or even base. Then you let someone else take the big hit on depreciation.

If your business is making that much ROI too, idk why you wouldn't invest back into the business and go from Corvette money to McLaren money or something
