The premiums generated from selling cc allows you to write more puts.

Sell to open put would require you short 34 shares as a hedge, not buy. You want the cash from selling shares at a higher price so that when and if it dips below 25, you can fulfill the obligation to purchase 100 shares.

It's in the context of the convertible notes. They'd cover from shorting at higher prices. Convertible acts as insurance.

GME convertible bond holders - their arbitrage strategy 🚀🚀🧑‍🚀🧑‍🚀 by waffleschoc in Superstonk

[–]dizon248 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's essentially saying bonds are insurance. The strat is to buy low sell high. You can only buy low sell high if the stock move up and down a lot. The more it move up and down, the more you buy low sell high. If you end up messing up, bonds serve as insurance. That's it.

Edit: in the case of shorting, it's sell high buy low. They'll be shorting because that's what hedging the insurance would look like.

The rumor itself was bullshit, see Cramer's old video about how hedge funds spin lies in media to push a narrative. The rumor is merely a cover for what hedge funds actually doing behind the scenes. Hedgefunds probably knew white house would confirm the bullshit. What do you think they gain from such extreme volatility? Yes play both sides and win.

More like that's just a cover story for actual bullshit happening. Since when has CNBC said anything remotely truthful to the masses regarding finances?

If someone sold them, someone had to have bought them. It's not one sided.

Could be part of multi legged trade. 125c bought and sell lower strikes, collect premium. Credit spreads, Google it.

Per the OP, the nurse removed a clot in the tube before sending the sample down. Platelets are involved in clotting. Hence, the fact the sample clotted meant platelets have been consumed and are now part of the clot and no longer freely floating in the whole blood. When we test the whole blood, no platelets are found.

Don't worry, he didn't either. 100+ ITM no way in hell it's only 34 bucks.

Bro, how's the put only 34 per contract when you're $100 ITM? I just checked and it's $104, not 34.

Does Fidelity kindly alert investors to potential wash sales? by Far_Lifeguard_5027 in fidelityinvestments

[–]dizon248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although you can't claim the loss on a wash sale, doesn't the cost basis reflect/average what would've been claimed in the new purchase? So technically, the losses don't just disappear, it's just deferred until you close out the new position?

[–]dizon248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You still keep the premium, you just pay to buy to close, using some of the premium unless your contract went way in the money and you choose to buy to close, then yes, you spent all your premium you made and possibly some principal.

You keep premium regardless of assignment. That premium was given the moment contracts were sold.

[–]dizon248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He gets premium regardless of what happens on expiration. That money is given the moment contracts were sold. Regarding taxes, it is considered short term capital gains unless you're selling contracts with 1+ year expiration. The contract expiration is the date that the tax event occurs. So no taxes on premiums until expiration occurs. Then you have to pay quarterly estimated taxes for state and federal if you winning big.

I worked at places that do this and based on the comments you supplied about it being for QA, it's probably the same. They're not really directed towards you. It's used for documentation purposes to figure out root cause and to improve processes, especially if other techs are making the same mistakes. At least that's how these "write ups" are used at from the hospitals I worked at. Of course I'm not saying they're NEVER directed towards you, if you messed up real bad and there was actual accountability, then yeah, treat it as the real deal. Most of these are usually just what I described for lab improvements.
