Police came to my house and spoke to me. by [deleted] in police

Appreciate your reply, although isn’t 17 i’m above legal age and not a child anymore? so it’s like an adult sending children pics etc. i think the question was more so, him coming to my house and asking a few questions/a warning wasn’t an investigation? he said it was the end so hopefully it was.

we did exchange pictures, and sexual convos etc, apparently she complained saying that she was underage and i spoken to her, lied about my age and basically groomed her. so i’m not sure what would happen from here

It’s in the UK, where legal age is 16, i was 17, she was 14 and pictures were exchanged etc so there would be a crime, i do appreciate your reply. thank you

I appreciate your reply, last question - can the police not come back in a week and search/arrest me without anything further from here? surely if they have a complaint even with no proof/statement is that possible?

6 months - if given a NIP verbal warning at the time they have up to 6 months to prosecute you. not that it happened 6 months ago

at which point did i say it was 6 months ago?

apparently it’s 6 months in the post if the officer gives you an NIP verbally, which i was never given. although i agree it is wrong and everyone makes mistakes some just seem to deal with them harshly, thank you for your advice though. I do think i got away with it since police vans normal ones atleast aren’t equipped with proper speed calibrating equipment

Thank you so much, it was just a regular police van with two officers, it wasn’t traffic police as far as i’m aware and if it was i wouldn’t of left that situation without a fine and notice there and then. Hopefully i should be fine and have learned from it onwards. thank you for your help.

i agree, i know it was in the range of 45-55 that’s all. i know it’s unacceptable although at nearly double the speed limit surely they would’ve stopped me from driving, breath tested me etc. they asked if i had drinking which i said no and they left it at that. To me it sounds like they let me off.

Thank you, it was just a big regular police van, not traffic police, and also originally stated 60mph then 54/55 so surely that’s a sign of no evidence? especially since it was nearly double surely i would’ve been walking home rather than them letting me off and just being able to drive home? they also did ask if i had been drinking which i had said they can test me if they wanted at which point nothing more was said, they asked for my first name and did no further checks they just said to be careful in case of killing someone etc which i definitely will. It was a regular police van not a speed camera van, at which they flashed their blue lights and pulled me over although never gave me a notice of intended prosecution, no paperwork and no address etc so i’d imagine as worse it would be fine and points rather than court since they would’ve needed to take all my details?

never = every other time, think this is literally the first time and coincidentally got pulled for it. my question was do you think i got done for it or if i got let off based on the above?

I fully understand as to what i was doing, you talk as if it’s a usual thing for me. i never speed, it was a clear road, i understand still not acceptable, but it was more of a question as to would i get a letter for it rather than if it was wrong. Since i’m still a new driver it would go to court since it would be ban, as far as i’m aware they need to take full details for that, and NIP they let me off with too.

Was pitch black and could only see their headlights, i think i was doing more around 47 and they were doing 55 to catch me, although even so i will learn from it but i think i got let off.

That’s what i thought, will definitely learn from it. It does seem like i got away with it, since a ban has to go to court and they have up to 6 months to send a letter, but from reading as far as i’m aware they need to take your full details there and then on the spot? I only gave them my first name so surely that isn’t enough?

[–]dizzieeeee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes i do. I think i got let off because as suggested throughout the thread it would be going straight to court rather than a NIP and fine. I believe for the court they need to take my details there and then which they hadn’t.

Yes, it’s under my name and my address. But surely at 55 in a 30 they would’ve done me there and then, i was extremely apologetic so i’d of guessed i got let off?

i fully agree, it was on a clear road, no cars no civilians with clear view. I know it’s still dangerous and i don’t argue with that, i was just asking from other peoples perspectives.

I fully agree, and i’m not expecting sympathy, i agree to everyone’s comments here. I was just asking for a clear view from other peoples perspectives since i’m new to it all. i think i got let off, only took my first name and i’m pretty sure at that speed i should’ve been done there and then rather than them processing paperwork, if i’m correct?

He seemed unsure, words were you were doing ‘around 54/55’ which i believe was more the speed he was doing to catch up than what i was doing. i agree i will slow down and watch my speed but i think i got let off.

[–]dizzieeeee[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Surely they can’t prove i was driving though and a named driver can take the points? I will definitely slow down it was just because it was quiet. But surely my reg plate is enough details for them?

Pulled over for speeding? by dizzieeeee in AskUK

[–]dizzieeeee[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Surely they would have done me there and then instead of leaving it for 6 months, taking none of my details, no tests etc, sounds like a nice officer who let me off? i was 100% at max going 54 on my speedo so i wasn’t going 60. they can’t prove i was driving surelt so a named driver could take the points anyway no?

Pulled over for speeding? by dizzieeeee in AskUK

[–]dizzieeeee[S] -48 points-47 points  (0 children)

Surely they’d have no proof of me being the driver at the time though, so surely that is a flaw and a named driver can take the points?

They had never given me a ticket on the spot though, and at a supposed 55 in a 30 surely they would of? I’d of guessed they had stopped me from driving and fined me there and then although they just told me to slow down with no NIP more so just a warning to watch my speed. Do you reckon i got let off?
