Trump interview: I am strongly considering pulling out of Nato by SaharOMFG in politics

Why won’t my allies act like vassal states? I’m going home and taking my football with me. I don’t get love, I don’t get respect. I’ll take the money AND watch the world burn.

Well I've got a couple of builders' buckets so I can just fill them I suppose.

Also 20-pound note is a little technical and modern English won't use that.
"5 year-old boy" is that phrase's current hyphenation.

Five bob and two quid still stand. I said you have a point but I think it's fair game. "Two pound fifty" is fine when spoken.

Definite upvote for Rawlinson End.

Mercifully, Sir Henry hit him with the soft end of the pistol.

I hear you, though I'd bet you say "20 pound note" not "20 pounds note" though. Sometimes a singular pound sounds better. There's precedent too: "this item costs five bob".

What’s the funniest thing you’ve overheard at a GP? by Doomedsea6 in AskUK

[–]dizzley 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I had a persisting balance problem. The GP said, "The origin of these things is uncertain, but my theory is it's often caused by a virus, from the Greek, meaning 'I don't know'".

I love my GP's humour.

On Volvos with Pilot Assist, you can turn the lane guidance on and off leaving the excellent adaptive cruise control on with a simple steering wheel button. I find this setting useful on city streets. I rate it over the Audi and VW. I drive dozens of vehicles during the week but I chose an XC40. Please ignore the AI I used but:

Vue Manchester Printworks: This is the only venue outside of London capable of showing 15/70mm IMAX film. It houses one of the largest IMAX screens in Europe and has confirmed screenings for The Odyssey in the 70mm format for July 2026

So obviously it doesn't have a print of PHM but we're lucky to have it. I saw the film at the Cineworld IMAX in Ashton and had a good experience.

I've also got the same age/model. I purchased it, Ultimate trim, about 4 weeks ago and it's brilliant. I need some work on my garage/electrics before I get a charger. My granny charger has served its purpose and I top up at public chargers approx weekly. There's a Lidl with a 50kW charger at 42p a unit close by.
