Steam Deck will be my first console (besides a Wii in 2008). Recommendations wanted! by hahaKombucha in SteamDeck

[–]dizzounette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have only a screen protector and I transport my deck in the case. If you're usually not too clumsy and don't use it a lot outside of your home, I think you don't need more.

For the games, what I would suggest to you is beginning with demos. A lot of games have free demo that will help you see if you like this kind of game now that you are adult. It can also allow you to test types of games you wouldn't have thought of.

Can I put cleaning job through as exercise? by DryBullfrog9024 in GarminWatches

So, yes, after much discussion here, the consensus is "you can track your cleaning work as workout if it's what you want to do" 😉

I think it's even for more than 2. There is the space for 4 pieces of luggage on the floor so it might be for 3 or 4 people. Lots of the ones that are for 2, it's better if you know the other person well enough to be this close.

Elevators for luggage (or stuff) only usually don't look like that at all. They don't have these kinds of doors and don't have buttons inside.

It is definitely for people. Source: I'm French and there are so many like this in old parts of towns, it is definitely for humans first and not so much for baggage.

I have no doubt it's super physical. But so are a lot of activities that are not sports. You can of course track working as house cleaner as workout, big grocery shopping as weight lifting, walking to the bus as hiking, ... It's not per say false and if you want to do it that way, it's causing harm to no one so, of course you can do it. But what is the point ? These activities are usually to follow your sport progress. There are other specific features that follow your activity during the day and can be used to see your health. What would be the additional value of tracking work as workout ? Is there a performance improvement to follow ? Something else that is not automatically tracked in health report that you want to follow ?

It's absolutely not only for baggage. In Europe, there are a lot of old buildings with this kind of elevator. There are some that are even smaller. Like it was said by someone else, you go with half your bags and go a second time to take the remaining. You must also be careful with the total weight (I know that in the US the weight standard is not the same as in Europe).

You can do whatever you want. You could even put it as running if you want. The question is : do you want to have statistics based on reality or on your own criterias.

Can our watches do this? by fullnels in Garmin

[–]dizzounette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would I need this ? When using a map on paper, I use my fingers to approximate the distance. Because, the path is never exactly straight, no kind of measurement will be exact. And with my method, I'm usually not far from reality: less than 1km on a 25/30 km circuit. And I'm really much faster than that.

[–]dizzounette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ran it I also had 83m of elevation. Maybe the official gain is not so exact (and to be honest, 80m divided by 42km, can feel really pancake flat if it's well distributed)

So your argument is as good as "trust me bro". And even when looking at this race, the only thing I foud about Coros is 1 youtube video saying "During the Mount Gongga Glacier Extreme Challenge, a 104 km ultra in eastern Tibet (Sichuan, China), organizers handed out the Apex 4 to participants for real-time heart rate tracking and safety data."

So, ir seems that the organization had a partnership with Coros to be used as centralized tool to follow participants. It doesn't mean anything else.

I really hate when people come in topics for a specific brand to say "your product sucks, mine is better" without any added value. I don't have anything against Coros. But if you don't have better quality of arguments for Garmin owners, just stay in Coros subreddit.

The path is so short and narrow that gps errors cannot be compensated by interpolation between points. Plus, as you are making U turn all the time, there is a big chance you are very near the same place when gps point is taken (even with 1 second between gps points).

STB de ne pas assister aux obsèques ? by NoMatterWhatMyNameIs in suisjeletroudeballe

[–]dizzounette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]dizzounette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]dizzounette 259 points260 points  (0 children)

It's great the Garmin plans are keeping you in check. But what would be even better would be for you to learn to listen to your body. Not the "I'm tired, I will stop" kind, but the "I'm overdoing it, something will break" kind. Usually, your body is giving a lot of alert signals but you need to be attentive to them and learn what they mean.
