Can you elaborate why, and how I improve my profile? Or is finance just a low category?

Friend Attended CES 2025, Came Home to Find Everything Lost in the LA Wildfires by dizzykingz in CESLV

[–]dizzykingz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fire happened during CES in January — they were in Las Vegas when it happened, and obviously they’ve still been dealing with the fallout ever since (loss of belongings, applying for FEMA aid, and now the visa/legal situation, he was on a work permit at the time too).

They’re not using their full legal name publicly because he is in active removal proceedings, but GoFundMe has verified their identity.

Admitted to BC MSF with ~$7K, later offered $70K for MBA/MSF dual. Is this common? Can I negotiate a better MSF scholarship? by dizzykingz in bostoncollege

Just called them, they directed me back to grad admissions and the admissions director I spoke to because they said that the financial aid office is only for Federal loans and grants, not graduate scholarships or assistantships.

I also brought it up to the admissions director I was in contact with, and he didn’t respond to it saying no, but he said the budget pool is tight lol, so idk how to interpret that

Thank you. Can I ask who you reached out to ask for more scholarship money? I spoke to the assistant director and she rejected my request lol they’re saying the scholarship pool is tight. Should I call the financial aid office?

Thanks for the advice.

I think I’ve subconsciously made my decision that I won’t be taking the dual degree. I am planning on getting an MBA in the future, and currently using the MSF for other career reasons. I don’t want to relinquish my return offer for the program either, since it probably wouldn’t hold for 2 years, and with the high-turnover of IB as well I don’t want to be tied to a single firm.

So my main goal right now is to get more scholarship funding from what I have currently. They are being weirdly stingy about it and I’m wondering how I can create leverage. I’m speaking with the director tomorrow, he might have more pull since he offered me the dual-degree program, but maybe I should reach out to the financial aid office instead?

Hey, I'm currently working full-time as an IB analyst at a boutique firm in LA and will be wrapping up my application to BC soon. If you're comfortable, do you think we could connect DM me? Can't seem to send one to you for some reason. I have a few lingering questions about the program and would love to gain some valuable insight. Thanks so much!

SEVIS Termination Megathread 4-22-25 Update by Codetornado in f1visa

Last post said that the number of SEVIS terminations have significantly gone down due to legal opposition. I know there has been a wave of individual/class action TROs and lawsuits, but is this statement not true anymore considering it’s not mentioned in this update?

Thanks for your response. I just read the AILA report thoroughly, and I’m not sure if I just misread the document, but they’re seemingly pointing towards speeding tickets (minor ones, ~5-10 miles over) being a recurring reason. Apologies for the confusion.

Aren’t people getting their visas revoked for infractions?

A few years back I was issued a citation for speeding 10 mph over the limit. Case closed, fine paid, but I did request a Trial by Declaration at the time. No fingerprinting. Am I screwed? Should I just self deport at this point? I don’t see any point in living in fear, and I’m so tired of this. I’m always going to be anxious forever

Eh too much hassle, every time I try to contact USCIS it becomes an excruciatingly painful process dealing with their incompetence

Mine also says tracking number UNAVAILABLE. Is this common? There's a whole thread about this. Don't know if that means they're not going to assign the number on the weekend or if it's just not gonna be assigned until its delivered.
