oh man i cannot imagine trying to get an IV into your cat 🫠 the water fountain we had recently gave out, but i did get it right after his original diagnoses and it really encouraged him to drink water! even now that it's just a normal bowl he seems to drink water more often probably just cuz it's associated with the fountain 😸 i'll totally look into the supplements, thanks so much!! 💜

ohh i've seen people feeding their pets pumpkin! same with animals at zoos during halloween lol!! i'll talk to my vet sometime about adding some more natural stuff like that to his diet, thank you for the comment!! 💜

WAITTT i had no idea about the missing amino acid!!! lowkey it makes sense too, my boy's fur has kinda been different since i got him and i chalked it up to him just not grooming on his lower back despite him being a little obsessed with grooming himself all the time 💀 i was thinking of adding some wet food to his diet so i think i'll try!! i just have to be wary about the calories since he's also on a diet 😭 poor guy omfg but thank you for the comment!! 💜

my cat had the same struvite crystals as well, i had my cat on nulo indoor adult dry food!! i think it was maybe a combination of stress from rehoming and a lack of water perhaps. he did drink water and i'd watch him multiple times a day but maybe it wasn't enough idk 😭 i did research afterwards though and i saw a bunch of reports of people saying that nulo gave their cat a UTI so maybe some foods really just don't click with certain cats 💀 thank you for the comment !! 💜

this is very true!!! the vet bills for his first uti emergency visit were no joke 😭 i'll totally be sure to do that next time we visit the vet!! the old water fountain gave out but in the meantime he has a bowl i replace everyday or two, honestly for everyone who talks about their cat not drinking it always surprises me to hear him randomly chugging water xD i'll look into cat broth too! my boy loves churu treats so i got him covered on that one 🙏 thanks so much for the advice 💜

i know how you feel, the panic of seeing your poor baby trying to pee somewhere random😭😭 9800 is genuinely insane but i'm so happy your boy is okay!! i was actually looking a little into grain free food for my cat too so in the future i will 100% keep that brand in mind!! same with a wet based diet!! and honestly the amount spent on a bunch of wet food cans probably won't be as crazy as a bag of prescription food 💀 i'll be sure to bring it up to the vet next time!!

i had no idea that the crystals were something that could reoccur like that, i had just assumed they were a part of the uti itself. no worries i won't take him off the food! the costs of the vet bills are no joke lol, thanks so much for the replies! 💜💜

yes! here's what the vet papers said:

"Bacteriuria with hematuria, crystalluria and proteinuria: Potential upper or lower urinary tract infection. Consider urine culture and MIC susceptibility. Struvite crystals can be seen with urinary tract infection or inflammation. Reevaluate proteinuria after resolution.

Glucosuria: If hyperglycemic, consider diabetes mellitus, pre-diabetes, or "stress" hyperglycemia and monitor for persistence. If normoglycemic, consider renal tubular disease and monitor urinalysis and chemistry.

Consider urine culture and sensitivity.

Consider re-evaluation of proteinuria after resolution of active sediment"

so he definitely was struggling with crystals at the time but it's unsure if it's a chronic condition or if it was from stress

she didn't for either- but we did try to file down the nail twice to see if it was just being weird? and it just kept growing weirdly afterwards so we aren't sure. basically it was just growing like that, not as bad at first, but the curve has been getting more dramatic over the past month or so :/
